Storm damage roof report in West End
Each roof is looked at from the safest viewpoints available: the ground, windows and vantage points, the loft where there is access, and the roof itself where that is safe. Every area of damage is photographed and described. We note any part we couldn’t see. You get a photo-illustrated written report to give to your insurer. Common reasons to book are holes or cracks caused by debris and new damp or leaks inside, on chimney stacks, slate and tile slopes and ridges and hips.
In a smaller place like West End, some roofs face open ground, so wind and driving rain find any weakness in ridges, verges and flashings. If a leak shows only when the wind is in a certain direction, that’s a useful clue. Let us know when it happens when you contact us. The gutters on the most exposed side can overflow too.
The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Signs you need a storm damage roof report in West End
A storm often finds a roof’s existing weak spots. Corroded nails on slate roofs, worn mortar on ridges and old flashings can all give way. We record recent damage alongside older defects.
Typical things we’re asked to look at include:
- Loose or torn flashings
- Damaged flat roof membrane
- Slates and tiles blown off the roof
- Ridge tiles that have come loose
Anyone responsible for a site like Holy Trinity CofE Primary School will know that on a building that size, finding the source of a drip means looking well beyond the stain.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Will the report include photos?
- Whether VAT is added on top
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
- Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
Roof by roof
Slate roofs
Slates can slip or blow off in a storm, particularly where the nails have corroded. We record which slates have moved and any signs of older nail fatigue.
Chimney stacks
High winds can loosen pots, cowls and aerials on stacks. We record any damage we can see.
Storm damage roof reports around West End
Older houses across Surrey often have handmade clay tiles, and many have tile-hanging. Some old buildings in Surrey and Sussex have Horsham stone slab roofs. Each of these roof types has its own typical places for water to get in. What can be done to an older roof may depend on listing or a conservation area. Your council and Historic England’s list will tell you where you stand, before anyone quotes for re-roofing.
If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for example near The Peacocks, water through a ceiling can damage stock and close a sales floor, so the source needs finding fast. For landlords with property near Brookwood station, finding the cause of a leak fast keeps a tenant’s home dry and the work focused.

How we price storm damage roof reports
Our packages start from £150, inc. VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on:
- How big the roof is
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
- Which survey package you book
- Commercial roofs and larger buildings
We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, with VAT included. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.
Helping us price your survey
We will typically ask about:
- The address and postcode of the property
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
To book a survey, call 07833 053749 or email us and let us know the address and what’s prompted the survey. We will confirm the price before booking.
How it works
After the inspection, everything we found is written up in a report with photographs, sent to you by email. On timing, most surveys take roughly 1–2 hours for most houses, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building. With a bit of garden around a house, as there often is around West End, the roof can be viewed from several angles. Mention any side of the property we can’t get to. The loft, where there’s safe access, completes the picture.
- First we go through when the storm hit and what you’ve noticed.
- We check the roof from wherever it’s safe.
- Each area of damage is photographed and described.
- We note the likely cause and any signs of older wear.
- You get a written report to pass to your insurer.

What we cannot see
We only report whatever is safely visible on the day, so there are some things a survey cannot cover:
- The outcome of a claim
- Acting for you with the insurer
- A price for the repairs
If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book. The full list of what we check.
What this survey covers
- Chimney stacks
- Slate and tile slopes
- Flashings
- Gutters and fascias
- Flat roofs
- Ridges and hips
What you can safely check yourself
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
West End questions
Do you cover West End?
Yes. Our area covers London and South East England, and West End is part of that. Just phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and tell us about the property, and we’ll talk through which survey suits.
Do you cover smaller places like West End?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and the South East. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.
Is wear and tear covered by insurance?
Insurers usually exclude wear and tear. We describe what looks like fresh storm damage and what looks older. The claim decision is your insurer’s.
How do I arrange a storm damage roof report in West End?
It’s easiest to call 07833 053749 or send us an email. Give us the address and a few details about the roof, and we’ll take it from there. Surveys run seven days a week.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. Access is agreed with you as you book.
How long will you be at the property?
Most surveys take about one to two hours at a house, and longer if the damage is spread across a large roof. We will confirm the timing when booking.
Is there a set wind speed for storm damage?
It varies by policy. Many treat gusts of about 55 mph as storm conditions, but your policy sets the actual test.
