Drone roof surveys in West End

Signs you need a drone roof survey in West End

The top of a stack is the most exposed part of many roofs. From the ground, you rarely see cracked flaunching or loose pots. Close-up drone photos show their condition.

Look out for signs like these:

  • Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
  • Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
  • Cracked mortar along the ridge
  • Moss and weeds taking hold up top

If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near The Peacocks, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it.

What to check before booking

  • Is there a chance to talk the report through?
  • What they will not be able to tell you
  • Is VAT included in the price?
  • Their drone registration, if they fly one

What a good roof survey covers

About our drone roof survey in West End

They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from ground level. They’re useful where walking on the roof could damage it or is not safe. You get close-up views without anyone setting foot on the roof. Before the visit, we check the address for any airspace restrictions that apply. If a drone is not the right tool, we will say so. We are often asked to look into blistered or cracked flat roof coverings and blocked valleys and parapet gutters, on valleys and parapet gutters, chimney stacks and fragile roofs.

Around West End, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. Thermal patterns and close-up photos together give a fuller picture of the roof. Findings are checked with moisture readings where needed. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.

We write the report in plain English, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photograph where possible, and recommendations are put by urgency where it matters.

When you need someone else

Our survey isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. It also has these limits:

  • A structural engineer’s report
  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly
  • Close-up photos of next door’s property

If you are not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer. What a survey covers and does not.

What we look at

  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Chimney stacks
  • Fragile roofs

West End questions

Do you cover smaller places like West End?

Yes, West End is covered. We work right across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in West End?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.

How soon will I get the report?

Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. All of them come by email.

Will I get photos?

Yes, every report has them. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible.

How much is a survey?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package.

Do I have to be there for the survey?

Not always. If we only need the outside, we can agree that ahead of time, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.

What happens after the survey?

You’ll get the report by email, with photos and clear recommendations. With Standard there is a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.

Drone roof surveys around West End

The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. Many older homes in Surrey have handmade clay tiles and tile-hung upper walls. Some old buildings in Surrey and Sussex have Horsham stone slab roofs. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up photos from the air and thermal images help.

For an older house near a landmark such as Holy Trinity, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. Anyone responsible for a site like Holy Trinity CofE Primary School will know that big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once.

West End is about 3 miles north-west of Woking, in Surrey. We provide drone roof surveys for homeowners, landlords and businesses in West End and nearby. Our area takes in places right across Surrey. There’s also a page for Guildford.

For landlords and managing agents

Letting agents often book on a landlord’s behalf, and the report can go to both. Access is agreed with the tenant ahead of time.

We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords. Larger roofs take longer, so they’re priced to suit.

Tips that help

Small things make a difference, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Some pointers:

  • Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet
  • Let us know about any leaks or concerns
  • Make sure the loft can be reached
  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit

If you need work done, roofers can work from the photos. The photos show the location and extent of every problem, so their quotes cover the same ground.

Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, so small faults are dealt with early.

Prices for drone roof surveys in West End

Not every roof costs the same to survey, and it comes down to:

  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • Which survey package you book
  • The size of the roof
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own

Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package you pick makes a difference too. The price is always agreed first.

What to tell us when you get in touch

Getting the details right at the start saves time. It is useful to include:

  • Where the property is, with the postcode
  • Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
  • Any deadline, like an exchange date

Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To arrange a day that suits you, phone 07833 053749 or email us.

The survey, step by step

On the day, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you need to know. After that, we look at everything we can see safely. The survey typically takes roughly 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. With a bit of garden around a house, as there often is around West End, the roof can be viewed from several angles. Mention any side of the property we can’t get to. Inside, the loft is checked where it can be reached safely.

  1. You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Before the survey

  • Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
  • For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent
  • Point out any leaks or damp patches

Once you know what you need, call 07833 053749 or email us. We’ll suggest a package, agree the price and find a date, weekday or weekend.
