Lucas Green Drone Roof Survey
Not sure what state the roof is in? We carry out drone roof surveys in Lucas Green and across Surrey, with plain-English findings.
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
For landlords and managing agents
We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords, from shops and offices to industrial units. Bigger roofs take more time, so they’re priced to suit.
If the property is let, the agent or a tenant can let us in, at a time agreed beforehand. We survey on weekdays and at weekends, which can make access easier.
About our drone roof survey in Lucas Green
We carry out drone roof surveys in Lucas Green and across London and the South East, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. We survey tall and steep roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and flat roofs on upper floors, and the problems we are asked to look at most are damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below and lead work pulling away at abutments.
Some older homes in villages like Lucas Green are listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
Report times depend on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day.

How we price drone roof surveys
Not every roof costs the same to survey, for these reasons:
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
- Which survey package you book
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how safely it can be seen. Our price is from £400, including VAT.
What we need to know
Getting the details right at the start saves time. It helps to include:
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
- When you need the report by
- The property’s address and postcode
For a price for drone roof surveys in Lucas Green, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. The address, the type of property and what you’d like to know help us price the survey accurately.

Before and after the survey
A little preparation and a few simple habits help. Our tips:
- Let us know what you want to see
- Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone
- Tell us the exact address when booking
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
File the report and photos with your home documents. They give you something to compare against later, and they help if you sell.
Keep the loft space ventilated. Condensation in the loft can damage timbers and insulation, and it is something only an inside check will show. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.
What a drone roof survey looks like in Lucas Green
The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. England has around 10,000 conservation areas and about 500,000 listed buildings. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, so check with the council.
If you look after a building like Bisley CofE Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Holy Trinity, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Common roof problems in Lucas Green
Many roofs are never seen properly from the ground. You can’t see the back slope, the valleys or the chimney tops. Faults there can go unnoticed for years.
A survey makes sense if you’ve noticed:
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
- Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near The Peacocks, a commercial roof can be photographed from above without anyone walking on it.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Lucas Green
Is drone flying allowed in Lucas Green?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
How do I find out if my home in Lucas Green is listed?
Check Historic England’s online list first, then ask the council about conservation areas and any Article 4 direction. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
What does a roof survey cost?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The final figure depends on the roof and the package you choose, confirmed before anything is booked.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We’re roof surveyors, not structural engineers. We will recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.
Do you cover Lucas Green for drone roof surveys?
Yes. We survey roofs in Lucas Green and the rest of Surrey. For a price, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes, as long as access is agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so whoever owns or manages the building needs to agree access. We inspect only the parts we are allowed to reach.
What if it rains on the day?
Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drones cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. We’ll rearrange with you if the weather is not right.
How it works
The visit normally starts outside and finishes in the loft: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the loft space where it can be reached. In total, it takes an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Cottages and farmhouses around Lucas Green often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can safely be seen.
- First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
- Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in
- Make sure the loft hatch can be reached

Advice
Can I check my roof myself?
Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
