Storm damage roof report in Murrell Green: what you get
Our storm damage report starts from £150. It is a photo-illustrated written report, sent by email. It does not price the repairs, so you’ll need a roofer’s quote for that. Your insurer may also send its own loss adjuster. Our report gives you an independent record of the damage and its likely cause. If you’re worried about ridge tiles that have come loose and damaged flat roof membrane, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on flashings, flat roofs and chimney stacks alike.
For a small place like Murrell Green, the inspection is the same as anywhere: we simply plan the journey and access ahead. It is useful to know where the water appears, in what weather, and what you’ve seen outside, along with any repairs done before. Photographs of the stain and of the roof from outside are helpful too.
Pictures do a lot of the work in our reports, because a photo of a cracked flashing says more than a paragraph. Anything out of sight on the day is listed as such.

What a storm damage roof report does not cover
Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, so a survey has limits:
- Repair costs or quotes for the work
- Your insurer’s view of the claim
- Damage hidden under coverings or inside the structure, without opening up
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will point you to the right survey before you book. What our survey covers.

What we look for on each type of roof
Ridge and hip tiles
Ridge tiles bedded in old mortar can loosen in high winds. We note whether the mortar looks recently broken or long worn.
Lead flashings
When flashings lift, water can get behind them. The report records the flashing and any damp inside.
Murrell Green roofs and the weather
Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. The covering and its details give the first clues when tracing where water is coming from. Historic houses like Stratfield Saye House, about 4.9 miles north-west, show how far back building in the area around Murrell Green goes. If you own one of the older houses, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
Take an older house close to St John the Evangelist: lead flashings, valleys and old chimneys are typical places for water to get in. If you let a flat or house near Winchfield station, tracing a leak quickly matters when a tenant is living with it. Take a building like Hook Junior School: a leak through a large roof is often found some distance from where the water shows inside.

Murrell Green: your questions answered
Do you cover Murrell Green?
Yes. Our area covers London and the South East, and Murrell Green is part of that. You can ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address and some details, and we’ll talk through which survey suits.
Do you cover smaller places like Murrell Green?
Yes, Murrell Green is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
Who handles emergency protection after a storm?
Emergency cover over a damaged roof should be arranged with a roofer. If it is safe, photograph the damage before it is covered. Keep receipts in case your insurer asks for them.
Do I need to be at home?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. We’ll talk about access as you book.
What wind speed counts as a storm?
Each policy has its own definition. Many treat gusts of about 55 mph as storm conditions, but check your own wording.
How should I record storm damage myself?
Safely, from the ground or a window. Never climb onto a roof after a storm. Binoculars can help you see damage from below, and we will record the rest.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it, with a recommendation to have a specialist asbestos surveyor check before it is disturbed.
How the survey works
The visit usually starts outside and finishes in the loft: first the slopes, edges and gutters from every safe viewpoint, then the roof space where it can be reached. In total, it takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. Rural addresses near Murrell Green can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- First we go through when the storm hit and what you’ve noticed.
- The roof is inspected from safe positions.
- We record and photograph the damage.
- We note the likely cause and any signs of older wear.
- You get a written report to pass to your insurer.
Preparing for the visit
- Check the loft hatch can be reached
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Let us know about parking near the property

Why act early in Murrell Green
If the damage is partly wear and tear, it’s better to know. Our report gives an honest view of both, so there are no surprises later. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. That is one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.
Prices start from £150, including VAT. What you pay depends on the size and height of the roof, how it can be seen safely and which survey you book.
