Storm damage roof report in Stanmore

Our storm damage report gives you an independent, written record of how a storm has affected your roof. It sets out what is damaged, with photos, and what we think the likely cause is. You can then give it to your insurer with your claim. The decision on any claim rests with your insurer and its policy wording. We are not loss adjusters, and we can’t tell you whether a claim will succeed. We survey flat roofs, chimney stacks and slate and tile slopes, and people most often book us about slipped or missing slates or tiles and torn or lifted flat roof coverings.

Being in a small place like Stanmore makes no difference to how a leak or storm damage is looked at: we simply plan the journey and access ahead. It helps to know where the water appears, in what weather, and what you’ve seen outside, along with any repairs done before. Photographs of the stain and of the roof from outside are helpful too.

Where we can’t see part of the roof, the report says so. You’ll know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Do you need a storm damage roof report in Stanmore?

Others book after an insurer has queried a claim. An independent report gives you another view of the roof. What happens next is up to the insurer.

We are often asked to look at:

  • Ridge tiles that have come loose
  • Torn or lifted flat roof coverings
  • Cowls or aerials dislodged in the wind
  • Roofs hit by falling trees

For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Nicholas, lead flashings, valleys and old chimneys are typical places for water to get in.

Questions from Stanmore

Do you cover smaller places like Stanmore?

Yes, Stanmore is covered. We work right across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Do you carry out roof surveys in Stanmore?

We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.

What do I do if water is coming in?

Emergency temporary protection is a job for a roofer. If it’s safe, take photos before it goes on. Our report then records the roof.

How strong does the wind have to be for a storm claim?

It varies by policy. About 55 mph is a common figure in many policies, but check your own wording.

How are storm damage reports priced?

A storm damage report starts from £150. Commercial and larger roofs are quoted on size. The report doesn’t include repair costs.

What’s the best way to book?

The quickest way is to ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email. Tell us the address and a little about the roof, and we’ll take it from there. We survey on weekdays and at weekends.

What if the roof was already worn?

Insurers typically exclude wear and tear. We describe what looks like fresh storm damage and what looks older. The claim decision is your insurer’s.

How the survey works

A survey visit follows a simple order: we listen to what’s been worrying you, inspect the roof from each safe vantage point, photograph what we find and make notes for the report. It normally takes about one to two hours for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. Older rural homes like those around Stanmore can have a main roof, lower lean-to roofs and outbuildings all joined together. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints, and anything we cannot see is noted.

  1. We start with what you’ve seen and any temporary repairs.
  2. We check inside, including the loft where there is access, for water damage.
  3. The roof is inspected from the ground, windows and the roof where it’s safe.
  4. Storm damage and older wear are recorded separately where we can.
  5. You receive the written report with photographs.

Before we arrive

  • Leave side gates unlocked
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
  • Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of

Advice

What a storm damage roof report looks like in Stanmore

Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. The covering and its details give the first clues when tracing where water is coming from. Listing and conservation areas can both shape what roof work is allowed on an older home. The council is the place to check, along with Historic England’s list, before anyone quotes for re-roofing.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Beedon C.E. (Controlled) Primary School, on a building that size, finding the source of a drip means looking well beyond the stain.

What a storm damage roof report doesn’t cover

A survey is a proper look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. The main limits are:

  • A decision on your insurance claim
  • Negotiating a claim settlement
  • Areas we can’t see safely

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will point you to the right survey. The full list of what we check.

What this survey covers

  • Flashings
  • Ridges and hips
  • Gutters and fascias
  • Slate and tile slopes
  • Chimney stacks

Landlord and commercial surveys in Stanmore

We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords, including offices, shops and units. Bigger roofs take more time, so they’re priced to suit.

Buyers’ agents can book surveys on behalf of their clients. The report is emailed, so it can go straight to your client, photos included.

Before and after the survey

A little preparation and a few simple habits help, both for the survey and for the roof itself. Some pointers:

  • Record any water damage in rooms and the loft
  • Keep fallen slates or tiles as evidence if safe
  • File receipts for anything you pay for
  • Get a roofer to make the roof safe if needed

For repair costs, ask a roofer to quote. The report gives them a clear list of the damage.

Store invoices and reports for any roof work. They can help show the roof was looked after.

What affects the cost of storm damage roof reports

What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. That comes down to:

  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
  • Building height and the viewpoints available
  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office

A Basic Survey starts from £150, inc. VAT. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400. We confirm the price for the job before you book.

Helping us price your survey

Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:

  • The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
  • What made you get in touch
  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window
  • Dates you’re working to, such as exchange

To book a survey, phone 07833 053749 or email us with the address and what you’d like to know about the roof. We will confirm the price before booking.
