With a portfolio of properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To discuss a number of properties, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the addresses.

We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords. Bigger roofs take more time, so they’re priced to suit.

How a storm damage roof report works in Wadwick

After a storm, it helps to have a clear record of what happened to your roof. We photograph the damage, describe it and note whether it fits storm damage, older wear or both. We’re not loss adjusters and can’t tell you if your claim will succeed. What you get is an independent view of the roof’s condition. If you’ve noticed damaged flat roof membrane and new damp or leaks inside, we can find out what’s behind it.

Being in a small place like Wadwick makes no difference to how a leak or storm damage is looked at: we simply plan the journey and access ahead. Let us know where the water shows, when it appears and anything you’ve noticed outside, along with any repairs done before. If you have photos of the water coming in, they help as well.

With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Practical tips

A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Tips:

  • Keep invoices for temporary repairs
  • Check your policy for how to report damage
  • Arrange temporary cover with a roofer if rain is getting in
  • Write down when the storm hit and when you noticed damage

Your insurer may send a loss adjuster to look at the damage. You will have your own independent record to refer to.

After a storm, look at the roof from the street or garden. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or lifted ridges. Never climb onto the roof yourself.

Your questions about storm damage roof reports in Wadwick

Is Wadwick within the area you cover?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We work right across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Wadwick?

Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.

How much is a storm damage roof report?

Our price is from £150, including VAT. Bigger roofs are quoted on size and access. It doesn’t include repair costs, so you’ll need a roofer’s quote for those.

How strong does the wind have to be for a storm claim?

There’s no single figure. Many use gusts of about 55 mph, but each policy sets its own definition. Your policy document will say.

Will you fly a drone over my roof?

Where it’s applicable and safe, yes. We fly a sub-250g drone and we are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). It is included in the Drone Roof Survey and, where it applies, the Premium Survey.

How many surveys have you done?

We have been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have carried out more than 5,000 surveys.

Are you loss adjusters?

No. We’re not loss adjusters, and we do not negotiate claims. We provide an independent record of the roof, which you can pass to your insurer.

What this survey cannot tell you

Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, and that sets some limits:

  • The outcome of a claim
  • Negotiating a claim settlement
  • Your insurer’s view of the claim

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you. What a survey covers and does not.

What we check

  • Gutters and fascias
  • Flat roofs
  • Flashings
  • Chimney stacks
  • Ridges and hips
  • Slate and tile slopes

The survey, step by step

We do not take risks to get a closer look. We inspect whatever is safely visible, and if part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. The survey typically takes an hour or two for most homes, depending on how much of the roof was hit. Somewhere like Wadwick needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it’s safe.

  1. First you give us the date of the storm and what you’ve noticed, inside and out.
  2. We inspect the roof from safe viewpoints and from the loft where there is access.
  3. We photograph and record every area of damage we can see.
  4. We note the likely cause, including any signs of wear that were there before the storm.
  5. We send you a written report with photos, ready to give to your insurer.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
  • Tell us where we can park nearby
  • Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at

Advice

Wind, rain and roofs in Wadwick

Historic houses such as Highclere Castle, about 3.8 miles north, show how far back building in the area around Wadwick goes. If your house is among the older ones, expect a mix of original materials and later repairs on the roof, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material. Some Hampshire villages still have thatched roofs. Slate and clay tile are the usual coverings on older South East houses, with concrete tiles on many later estates. Knowing the roof type helps narrow down where water may be getting in.

These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:

  • Damaged ridges and hips
  • Slipped or missing slates or tiles
  • Holes or cracks caused by debris
  • Stains appearing after strong winds

Landlords with a home close to Whitchurch (Hampshire) station may find that finding the cause of a leak fast keeps a tenant’s home dry and the work focused.
