Thermal imaging roof survey in Hackbridge, Greater London

A careful look at the roof at your property in Hackbridge, with photographs and a written report.

  • Heat escaping through the roof
  • Wet areas near outlets and upstands

Thermal roof surveys for Hackbridge homes and businesses

Roof by roof

Pitched slate and tile roofs

On pitched roofs, slates and tiles over a ventilated space can mask what’s happening underneath. We combine the images with an inspection from the loft where there is safe access.

GRP fibreglass roofs

Glossy GRP can reflect heat. We allow for reflections and confirm findings with moisture readings.

How a thermal roof survey works in Hackbridge

We present each thermal image next to a normal photo of the same area, so it’s easy to see which part of the roof each one shows. We explain what each pattern may mean, what the moisture readings found and what we recommend. With a Premium Survey, the report reaches you the same day. If you have questions, the in-person consultation gives you time to go through them. A follow-up 12 months later is included too. Common reasons to book are heat escaping through the roof and stains that keep coming back, on insulated roof spaces, loft conversions and pitched roof slopes.

London airspace is busy and tightly controlled: there are flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Every address in Hackbridge is checked before any drone flight, and where permission is needed, the flight waits for it.

What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. That makes it useful now and a handy reference later.

The survey, step by step

We look at the roof from outside and, where it’s relevant and there’s safe access, from inside the roof space too. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging. All in, the survey normally takes an hour or two for most homes, plus time to check any thermal findings with moisture readings. For a visit in Hackbridge, parking and access are the things to plan: let us know about permits, visitor bays or off-street space, which floor the property is on and how to get into the loft. On the day, the roof is looked at from the ground, from windows, from inside the loft space and from the roof where it’s safe.

  1. You tell us about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
  2. We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
  3. We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
  4. Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
  5. The Premium report reaches you the same day, and we go through it with you in person.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
  • Move anything stored under the loft hatch

How to book

Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there is time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just call 07833 053749 or drop us an email when you’re ready.

FAQs for Hackbridge

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Hackbridge?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Can parking be tricky for a visit in Hackbridge?

In much of London, parking needs planning: a visitor permit or a bay close to the door helps a lot, so mention what’s available when booking.

How many surveys have you done?

We have more than 20 years’ experience and have completed over 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.

What’s in the report?

Written findings with photographs, covering the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend, in order of urgency where relevant. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.

Will you go up on the roof?

Only where it is safe to do so. We inspect what can be seen safely: from the ground, from windows, from inside the loft space, from the roof where it is safe and by drone where it applies. Anything we can’t see is noted in the report.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in if we are looking inside or in the loft. We will talk about access as you book.

How fast do I get the report?

Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. Each one is emailed.

What you can safely check yourself

Look up at the roof after a storm, from ground level: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

What you can’t do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery. That’s where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.

Drones, thermal imaging and Hackbridge roofs

Southside House, about 3.6 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Hackbridge. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and a listed home or one in a conservation area may need consent for changes of material. If the drone is used for your survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying.

Anyone responsible for a site like St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary School will know that big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once. Hackbridge is in London, so parking needs planning: let us know about parking bays, permits or a driveway when you book.
