Thermal Roof Survey in Heyshott
We carry out thermal roof surveys in Heyshott and the rest of West Sussex. We survey seven days a week.
- Leaks far from where the stain appears
- Wet insulation beneath the membrane
- Missing or slipped insulation
The survey, step by step
We photograph the roof as we go, so the report shows exactly what we saw. We take close-ups from wherever is safe, including by drone where it is applicable and the weather allows. A typical visit takes between one and two hours on an ordinary house, and more on a big or complicated roof. Older roofs in small places like Heyshott can have low, tight loft spaces, so let us know about the loft hatch and any ladder. We only go where it is safe.
- You tell us about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
- We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
- We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
- Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
- You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.
Getting ready for the survey
- Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
- For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed

Thermal roof surveys for homes and businesses in Heyshott
We present each thermal image next to a normal photo of the same area, so it’s easy to see which part of the roof each one shows. Each one comes with an explanation, the moisture readings and our recommendation. With a Premium Survey, the report reaches you the same day. You can talk the findings through with us at the in-person consultation. A follow-up 12 months later is included too. If you’ve noticed stains that keep coming back and leaks far from where the stain appears, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on loft conversions, commercial roofs and insulated roof spaces alike.
Older buildings in small places like Heyshott may be listed or in a conservation area. A look from above or with a thermal imager doesn’t touch the roof, which suits a building where any change needs care. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
The written findings come by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

Heyshott questions
Do you cover smaller places like Heyshott?
We do. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house.
Do you carry out roof surveys in Heyshott?
Yes, Heyshott is one of the places we work. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Let us know which days suit you as you book.
Will I get photos?
Yes. Photographs are taken throughout the survey, and the report uses them to show each finding.
How long will you be at the property?
It typically takes about one to two hours on an ordinary house, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. The written report follows by email, on the timescale of your package.
What will the report tell me?
It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, finishing with recommendations. The most urgent items are made clear.
What happens next?
You’ll receive the report by email, and you decide the next step: raise it with a seller, send it to an insurer, brief a roofer or share it with a managing agent.
When you need someone else
A survey is a proper look at the roof, but it cannot do everything. The main limits are:
- Whether the deck or roof structure is strong enough
- Readings unaffected by sun, shade or reflections
- A formal energy assessment
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or email us and we will tell you before booking. What our survey covers.
What we look at
- Insulated roof spaces
- Loft conversions
- Pitched roof slopes
- Flat roofs
- Ceilings below the roof
- Commercial roofs
Signs you need a thermal roof survey in Heyshott
Flat roofs that have leaked for a while can have wet insulation under the covering. Owners want to know how far it has spread before deciding what to do. A thermal survey, checked with moisture readings, can give a much clearer picture.
Look out for signs like these:
- Cold areas below the roof
- Possible trapped moisture under a flat roof covering
- Moisture around outlets and upstands
- Damp where roofs meet walls and chimneys
Take an older house close to The Parish Church of St James: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
Before booking any roof surveyor
- Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
- What insurance they carry
- Whether you can ask questions once you have the report
- Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
Tips from our surveys
You don’t need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:
- Take photos of stains as they appear, so we can compare
- Do not switch the heating off before the visit
- Ask us about the forecast if rain is expected
- Note where damp appears and after what weather
You also get an in-person consultation with a Premium Survey, so you can go through the images with us. A follow-up 12 months later is included as well.
Check that loft insulation is laid evenly and hasn’t been pushed aside. Gaps often appear after work in the loft.
What we look for on each type of roof
Single-ply and EPDM roofs
On big single-ply roofs, the camera helps show where to take readings. That makes the survey more focused.
Parapets, valleys and junctions
Parapet and valley gutters can overflow inside a building. We use the camera and moisture readings to help follow it.
How we price thermal roof surveys
What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. That comes down to:
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- The roof’s overall size
- House, block, shop or office
- Building height and the viewpoints available
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, including VAT. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.
What we need to know
To price your survey accurately, we will ask about:
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- Anything about access we should know
- Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
- The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
