Thermal Roof Survey in Liss Forest
Thermal roof surveys in Liss Forest from an independent, experienced roof surveyor. More than 20 years and over 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
- Patches of heat loss across the roof
- Cold areas below the roof
- Leaks far from where the stain appears
Different roofs, different checks
Loft insulation
In the roof space, the camera can pick up gaps and thin areas of insulation. We inspect the loft where it can be reached safely.
Pitched slate and tile roofs
Slate and tile roofs are frequently harder to read with a thermal camera, because of the air space beneath. We combine the images with an inspection from the loft where there’s safe access.
How a thermal roof survey works in Liss Forest
A thermal survey is not a quick fix for every roof problem. It shows surface temperature, and things like sun, shade, reflections and wind all affect the readings. We back up the images with moisture readings and a careful look at the roof. Our report says plainly what the camera picked up and how sure we can be. If a finding cannot be confirmed, the report suggests a next step. If you’ve noticed wet insulation beneath the membrane and damp where roofs meet walls and chimneys, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.
In a village or hamlet like Liss Forest, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Weather and airspace are checked ahead of the visit. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
What you get is a clear record of the roof on the day we saw it. It’s useful right away, and a good reference for later, such as when you want to compare after future work.

Thermal roof surveys around Liss Forest
If your home is older, it is worth knowing whether it is listed or in a conservation area before planning roof work. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, and councils can also use Article 4 directions to control changes in conservation areas. Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from the ground, which is where close-up aerial shots and thermal images help.
For an older house near a landmark such as St Saviour's, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. If you look after a building like Liss Infant School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Liss Forest: your questions answered
Is Liss Forest within the area you cover?
We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
Do you cover Liss Forest?
Yes, Liss Forest is within the area we cover. We work right across London and the South East. Just phone 07833 053749 or email us and let us know about the property.
Will the camera show exactly where the water is?
The camera does not see water itself. Wet insulation holds heat longer than dry, so it can stand out, but we check each finding with moisture readings.
Is thermal imaging good for finding leaks?
It’s a useful tool for tracing leaks, but not the only one. What it shows depends on the weather and the roof. Where it can’t be pinned down, the report suggests a next step, such as electronic leak detection.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
We carry out surveys on any day of the week. To find a day that suits you, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Will I get photos?
Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Yes, where it’s applicable. Flights depend on the weather on the day and airspace rules, including flight restriction zones near airports. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID.

Helping us price your survey

- How the loft is reached, if there is one
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them

The survey, step by step
There is not much for you to do on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, like stains, drips or loose pieces, and we’ll get on with the inspection. The survey itself takes between one and two hours for most homes, plus time to check any thermal findings with moisture readings. Around Liss Forest, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so let us know about the loft hatch and any ladder. We only go where it’s safe.
- We start with the roof, its history and any signs of damp or heat loss.
- We check the conditions and note how they may affect the images.
- We inspect the roof and take thermal images during the same visit.
- Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
- You get the report the same day, with an in-person consultation to follow.
Before the survey
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Check pets are kept safely away
- Leave a clear route to the loft
How to book

Should I look at the roof myself first?
A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. You will not see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from the ground, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
Inside, the loft is a good place to look, with care. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
What this survey can’t tell you
It helps to know what a survey will not do before you book:
- Clear results when the conditions on the day are poor
- What’s inside walls or under coverings, without opening up
- Confirming water without moisture readings
