Pinewood Village Thermal Roof Survey
Thermal imaging to find moisture and heat loss patterns in a roof across Pinewood Village, using drones and thermal imaging where it applies. Get in touch for a price.
- Leaks that are hard to trace
- Missing or slipped insulation
- Areas losing heat at the eaves and junctions
What we are asked to look at in Pinewood Village
Not every roof problem shows on the surface. Trapped moisture, missing insulation and hidden heat loss are three examples. A thermal camera adds another way of finding them.
It’s worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Gaps in loft insulation
- Wet areas near outlets and upstands
- Stains that keep coming back
- Cold areas below the roof
Anyone responsible for a site like Bordon Junior School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.
Questions to ask before you book

About our thermal roof survey in Pinewood Village
Thermal imaging can also show where a roof is losing heat. Missing or slipped insulation and gaps at the eaves often show up as temperature differences. The difference shows most clearly when it is warm inside and cold outside. Our report points out what the images suggest and where to look more closely. It is not an energy rating or a heat loss calculation. Common reasons to book are leaks far from where the stain appears and ceilings that feel colder in places, across commercial roofs, ceilings below the roof and insulated roof spaces.
Around Pinewood Village, plenty of roofs are low enough to see partly from the garden or the street. The parts you cannot see, like rear slopes, valleys and chimney tops, are where a drone or thermal camera adds detail. Both depend on the weather on the day. Close-up images frequently show wear on ridges, verges and flashings that can’t be judged properly from the ground.
We write the report in plain English, so it makes sense without any roofing background. Each point is backed by a photograph where possible.

How it works
The visit has one job: to see as much of the roof as can be seen safely and record it clearly. Notes and photos go into the written report. It usually takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, plus time to check any thermal findings with moisture readings. Parking around Pinewood Village is usually easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. On bungalows and lower roofs, much can be seen from ground level, with the loft showing the underside.
- We start by discussing the roof, any signs of damp and how the weather may affect the images.
- The roof is inspected visually from safe viewpoints.
- A thermal camera records how the surface temperature varies across the roof.
- Any patterns of interest are checked with moisture readings where we can reach them.
- You get a report with thermal images, photos and our recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- Show us where any leaks or stains appear
- Clear the way to the loft hatch

Related advice
Pinewood Village: your questions answered
Do you cover Pinewood Village?
We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
How do I find out if my home in Pinewood Village is listed?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Can you use a thermal camera on a sloping roof?
It can show heat loss and some damp, but it has more limits there. We explain what the images can and cannot tell you, and we check them with a visual inspection and moisture readings.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, if the building owner or managing agent agrees access. We check the parts we’re given access to, and the report makes that clear.
Does thermal imaging detect leaks directly?
Thermal imaging shows temperature rather than water. Because wet insulation holds heat for longer, it can show as a different temperature, but we check each finding with moisture readings.
How long does the survey take?
That depends on the size and shape of the roof, but most surveys take about 1–2 hours for most homes, plus time to check any thermal findings with moisture readings. The report is sent afterwards by email.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. We note visible signs like sagging or deflection, but we are not structural engineers and do not carry out calculations. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.
Thermal roof surveys around Pinewood Village
Thatch survives on some older buildings in Hampshire’s villages. In this part of the South East, older roofs are mostly slate or clay tile and many newer ones concrete tile. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up photos from the air and thermal images help. If your survey includes the drone, the flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.
For an older house near a landmark such as St Mark's Sacred Church, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

What affects the cost of thermal roof surveys
Not every roof costs the same to survey, and it comes down to:
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone

Helping us price your survey
Getting the details right at the start saves time. Please include:
- The property’s address and postcode
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- Dates you are working to, such as exchange
- Access details, like a loft hatch or a shared roof
Getting a price is simple: just ring 07833 053749 or email us and give us some details about the property and we will point you to the right survey. We confirm the price before anything is booked.
Before and after the survey
You don’t need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:
- Keep outlets and gutters clear to stop water sitting
- Keep dated photos of any marks on ceilings
- Clear a path to the loft hatch before we arrive
- Keep the heating on as usual before a heat loss survey
If you’re buying, the report gives you specific points to raise with the seller or agent. What you do with it is up to you, whether that is asking for work or discussing the price.
After repairs or a new covering, a later survey can confirm things are dry, when the conditions are suitable.
What happens if roof problems are left?
Wet insulation under a flat roof doesn’t dry out on its own while the covering stays on. In time, it stops insulating properly and can damage the deck. Finding the wet areas sooner keeps the work smaller. Arranging work in a smaller place like Pinewood Village is easier with notice than in an emergency. A survey gives you that notice.
One thing that affects the price is the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
