- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- House, block, shop or office
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where applicable, which starts from £400, with VAT included. We can help you choose the package that fits what you’d like to know.
Getting in touch
To price your survey accurately, we’ll ask about:
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- Whether there is a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
- The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
- Where water is showing inside, if it is
When you’re ready to go ahead, ring 07833 053749 or email us. From there it’s a case of choosing a package, agreeing the price and fixing a day, weekday or weekend.
Thermal roof survey in Upper Horsebridge: what you get
Thermal imaging is useful when a damp patch has no clear cause. Leaks frequently run along a roof before they appear on a ceiling, and the camera can show patterns that help us follow it. The images are used alongside a visual inspection and moisture readings, so no conclusion rests on one method alone. We survey commercial roofs, insulated roof spaces and loft conversions, and common reasons people get in touch are damp where roofs meet walls and chimneys and areas of a flat roof that may hold water.
Around Upper Horsebridge, a good many roofs are low enough to see partly from the garden or the street. Chimney tops, valleys and rear slopes are where close-up or thermal images help most. Both depend on the weather on the day. Even so, a close-up image frequently shows wear on ridges and flashings that a view from ground level misses.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. You will know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From ground level, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Overflowing water can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
Upper Horsebridge questions
Will you come out to Upper Horsebridge?
Yes, we do. Our area covers London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it is useful to know about access.
How do I find out if my home in Upper Horsebridge is listed?
We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.
Can a thermal survey trace a roof leak?
It can help narrow down where water may be getting in. Water can travel under a covering before it shows inside, and temperature patterns can help follow it. We combine it with a visual inspection and moisture readings, as the camera alone can’t prove a leak.
What will the report tell me?
Written findings with photographs, covering the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend, with the most urgent first where relevant. Standard adds moisture detection and a structural check; Premium adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable and structural analysis.
Can you use a thermal camera on a sloping roof?
It can help, but the results are frequently less clear than on a flat roof. The air space under slates and tiles can hide patterns, so we combine it with an inspection from the loft where there is safe access.
Will you fly a drone over my roof?
Yes, where it is applicable. We hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID and fly a drone under 250g, and every flight depends on the airspace and the weather.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only where it’s safe to do so. We inspect whatever is safely visible: from ground level, from windows, from inside the loft space, from the roof where it is safe and by drone where it applies. Anything we can’t see is noted in the report.
Landlord and commercial surveys in Upper Horsebridge
We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords, from shops and offices to industrial units. Larger roofs take longer, and they’re priced for the size.
For blocks of flats, a roof survey helps managing agents and residents’ management companies plan ahead. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait, which helps when budgeting.
Why act early in Upper Horsebridge
Wet insulation under a flat roof does not dry out on its own while the covering stays on. Over time, it insulates less well and can harm the deck. Finding the wet areas sooner keeps the work smaller. Tradespeople may need to travel further to a smaller place like Upper Horsebridge, so it helps to plan roof work rather than call someone out in a hurry. Knowing early gives you time to get the right people in.
The cost of a survey depends on the roof: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how it can be reached and seen safely. Prices start from £400, including VAT.

What we are asked to look at in Upper Horsebridge
Buyers sometimes want more than a visual look at the roof. A Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, a drone inspection where applicable and a same-day report, which suits a purchase that’s moving quickly.
A survey can pick up problems like:
- Damp around roof outlets and upstands
- Stains that keep coming back
- Water that travels before it shows
- Damp where roofs meet walls and chimneys
If you run a hotel or guest house in or near Upper Horsebridge, a roof problem can mean rooms out of use, so it’s worth knowing the roof’s condition.
Before booking any roof surveyor
- Their drone registration, if they fly one
- Is there a chance to talk the report through?
- What’s outside the scope of the survey
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
How it works
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. The inspection then takes roughly 1–2 hours at most homes, and more on a big or complicated roof. A visit to a smaller place like Upper Horsebridge is no different on the day: we look from ground level, from windows, from the loft and from the roof where it’s safe. Point out any stains, cracks or loose pieces you’ve spotted.
- You let us know about the roof and any damp, leaks or cold rooms.
- The weather and surface conditions are recorded.
- A full inspection and thermal imaging are carried out together.
- Moisture readings are used to check what the camera shows.
- The Premium report reaches you the same day, and we go through it with you in person.
Preparing for the visit
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- Let us know where we can park nearby

Airspace, weather and Upper Horsebridge roofs
Where the drone is part of the survey, we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before flying. Older houses across Sussex often have handmade clay tiles, and many have tile-hanging on their upper walls. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old Sussex buildings, alongside oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.
Horselunges Manor lies about 0.6 miles north-west, so building around Upper Horsebridge goes back a long way. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself. Take a building like Hawkes Farm Academy: big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once.
