Wondering about the roof at a property in Ashley Heath? We carry out drone roof surveys in Ashley Heath and across Hampshire.
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
- Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
Drone roof survey in Ashley Heath: what you get
From the air, the outer surfaces are clear, but it can’t see under the coverings or into the loft. Where there’s safe access, we look in the loft space too, since that is where leaks and condensation often show first. Inside and out together tell you far more. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. Where the loft cannot be reached safely, we note it. We survey valleys and parapet gutters, flat roofs on upper floors and tall and steep roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are moss building up on slopes and in gutters and chimney tops in poor condition.
Places like Ashley Heath can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so the Drone Safety Map is checked before any flight. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Each flight is planned with neighbours’ privacy in mind, as well as the airspace and the wind.
Most points in the report come with a picture, so you can see each defect rather than just read about it. If something couldn’t be seen safely, the report is clear about it.

What we look for on each type of roof
Chimney stacks
Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. We record what we find with photos.
Steep slate and tile slopes
Steep slopes are hard to inspect safely on foot. From the air, every course of slates or tiles can be seen, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.
Ashley Heath: your questions answered
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Ashley Heath?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.
Will you come out to Ashley Heath?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our area covers London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.
What’s in the survey report?
You get our findings in writing, part by part, with photos. Points are put by urgency where it matters.
Will you check the loft?
Typically, if there is one and it can be reached safely. From inside, the underside of the roof frequently shows damp, staining or daylight that cannot be seen from outside.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
We carry out surveys seven days a week. To arrange a date, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
How much is a survey?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The final figure depends on the roof and the package you choose, and it’s agreed before booking.
Is this an asbestos survey?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
DIY checks: what’s safe
You can learn a lot from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Look up at the roof after a storm, from the ground: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Don’t go up yourself.
How the survey works
The visit typically starts outside and finishes in the loft: outside views come first, then the loft space if there is safe access. In total, it takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Being in a smaller place like Ashley Heath doesn’t change how the visit works: we look from ground level, from windows, from the loft and from the roof where it’s safe. Point out any stains, cracks or loose pieces you’ve spotted.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Leave a clear route to the loft
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared
- Check we can get to the back of the property

What this survey cannot tell you
We only report whatever is safely visible on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will give you a straight answer before you book. The full list of what we check.

What a survey costs
Our packages start from £150, with VAT included. What you pay for your roof depends on:
- House, block, shop or office
- The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how it can be reached and seen safely. Our price is from £400, including VAT.
Booking your survey
If you can, have these to hand when you contact us:
- What made you get in touch
- Any photos you have, taken from the ground or a window
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
- The property’s address and postcode
Once you know what you need, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. We’ll suggest a package, agree the price and find a date, weekday or weekend.
What happens if roof problems are left?
Photos from a drone survey show how the roof looks today. Comparing them with later photos shows what has changed. It’s useful for planning maintenance over the years. Blocked gutters on homes around Ashley Heath overflow and soak walls, especially where trees overhang. Dealing with the cause is simple; drying out a wall is not.
Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so they’re priced to match. The price is confirmed before you book.

Airspace, weather and Ashley Heath roofs
If your home is older, it’s worth knowing whether it’s listed or in a conservation area before planning roof work. Listed building consent covers changes to a listed building’s special interest, and an Article 4 direction can bring extra controls in a conservation area. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first.
If you look after a building like St Ives Primary & Nursery School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. Take an older house close to All Saints: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
