Drone roof surveys in Bledington

Drone roof survey in Bledington: what you get

Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. We keep the camera on the roof we are surveying, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We inspect only what the owner has asked us to. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. If you’re worried about debris building up in hidden gutters and vegetation in valleys and gutters, a survey will tell you what’s going on, whatever the roof.

Somewhere as small as Bledington, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from the ground. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned in advance. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

Where we can’t see part of the roof, the report says so. You will know exactly what was inspected and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Practical tips

Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:

  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
  • Shut pets inside while we fly
  • Give us the full address so we can check the airspace

You get an in-person consultation with the Premium Survey to go through what the drone showed. You can ask about anything that is not clear.

Have leaves and moss cleared from gutters, valleys and outlets, ideally once the leaves have fallen. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.

Drone roof surveys around Bledington

Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.

Chastleton House lies about 4 miles north, so building around Bledington goes back a long way. For older roofs nearby, a look from the air or with a thermal camera is a hands-off way to check condition. For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Bledington Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. Take an older house close to Church of St Leonard: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

The survey, step by step

After the inspection, everything we found is written up as a report with photographs, sent to you by email. As for time on site, it typically takes an hour or two for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Around Bledington, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so it helps to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • For flats, make sure roof access has been agreed

Advice

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover

Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so there are some things a survey cannot cover:

  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you. What our survey covers.

Roofs we survey in Bledington

  • Chimney stacks
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Fragile roofs

What happens if roof problems are left?

Photographing a roof from the air does not touch it. Nothing is cracked or dislodged by footsteps, so you see the roof exactly as it is. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. Spotting a problem early leaves room to find them.

Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

Why us?

  • CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID)
  • An independent look at the roof

FAQs for Bledington

How do I find out if my home in Bledington is listed?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Will you come out to Bledington?

Yes. Bledington is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route as you book.

Do drone rules differ in central London?

Central London has restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs, and flights there need NATS permission. We check the airspace for your address and apply where needed.

Can you survey a shared roof?

Yes, as long as access is agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is often shared, so we need permission from the freeholder or managing agent. We inspect only the parts we are allowed to reach.

How long does a drone roof survey take?

Allow between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. We will give you an idea of timing when you book.

Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?

No. We are experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Only when it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where applicable cover most of what’s needed, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.

What we look for on each type of roof

Ridges and hips

The ridge takes wind from both sides. From above, we can see loose ridges and missing mortar.

Large commercial roofs

Cement sheet roofs on buildings from before 2000 may contain asbestos. We flag it in the report so a specialist asbestos surveyor can check.

What affects the price in Bledington

To price your survey, we look at:

  • How big the roof is
  • The height of the building and how the roof can be seen safely
  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings

For a price for your roof in Bledington, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and a few details. We will confirm the figure before booking.
