Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Witney

Before any flight, we check the airspace. Near protected airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If permission is not given, we inspect by other means and explain why. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. If you are worried about standing water on a flat roof and eroded pointing on a chimney stack, we can find out what’s behind it.

Older homes in a town like Witney may lose heat through roofs with little or no insulation. Thermal imaging can show where heat escapes, and it can also point to damp patches. What it shows is surface temperature, not water itself, so findings are checked with moisture readings, while drone photos show the outside of the same roof. Results depend on the conditions, which is why the date is chosen with care.

The report doesn’t just list problems. For each finding, it explains what it is, why it matters and what we’d recommend, so you can decide what to do next.

Prices for drone roof surveys in Witney

A few things affect what a survey costs:

  • The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • The size of the roof
  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see

A Basic Survey starts from £150, inc. VAT. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400. You’ll know the price for your survey before booking.

Getting in touch

To price your survey accurately, we’ll ask about:

  • When you need the report by
  • Any marks or damp showing indoors
  • Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel

Prices start from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, so ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the details.

Different roofs, different checks

Steep slate and tile slopes

Widespread slipping on slate typically means nail fatigue. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Outlets, edges and roof plant are common problem areas. We photograph them closely, as far as the flight allows.

Common roof problems in Witney

Many roofs are never seen properly from ground level. You cannot see the back slope, the valleys or the chimney tops. Faults there can go unnoticed for years.

Typical things we’re asked to look at include:

  • Debris building up in hidden gutters
  • Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
  • Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
  • Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below

The streets around a church such as Witney Congregational Church are often among the oldest in a place, and if your house is among the older ones nearby, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What insurance they carry
  • What experience they bring
  • Whether you get a written report with photos
  • How they’ll see the roof: from ground level, the loft, the roof or by drone

What to expect from a roof survey

Why get it checked now?

With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. They show the location and extent of each defect. Blocked gutters and downpipes on homes in Witney overflow onto walls. A slipped tile or worn flashing does the same higher up. Neither gets better on its own.

A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package you pick makes a difference too. We will give you the figure before anything is booked.

What you get with us

  • A sub-250g drone, flown with a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
  • 5,000+ roofs surveyed
  • An independent view of the roof
  • Two decades and more of roof surveys

Common questions in Witney

Do you cover Witney?

We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photographs.

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Witney?

Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case.

Do you climb onto every roof?

Not unless it’s safe. Most of what we need can be seen from safe viewpoints, the loft and, where applicable, a drone, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.

What’s in the survey report?

It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, with photographs throughout. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.

What happens next?

The report arrives by email, with photographs and clear recommendations. With Standard there’s a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.

Do drone rules differ in central London?

It depends where in central London. Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs have restricted areas that need NATS permission. We check each address first, and fall back on other viewpoints if we can’t fly.

How experienced are you?

More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years.

How it works

Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof; as a rough guide, the survey takes about 1–2 hours for most houses, and longer for a large or complex roof. If you have questions on the day, just ask. A typical visit in Witney begins with the street side of the roof and then moves round the building. The back garden is often where extensions, dormers and rear slopes are best seen. The loft comes next, where there’s safe access.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we are surveying.
  4. Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Clear the way to the loft hatch
  • Tell us about parking before the day
  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey

Before and after the survey

You do not need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:

  • Let us know what you want to see
  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
  • Book early if you’re near an airport
  • Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off

There is a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit.

Keep the roof space ventilated. Poor airflow lets condensation build up. Keep insulation clear of the eaves.
