Drone roof survey in Boyden Gate, Kent
Wondering about the roof at a property in Boyden Gate? We carry out drone roof surveys in Boyden Gate and across Kent.
- Cracked mortar along the ridge
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
What a drone roof survey does not cover
It’s a careful look at the roof, not the whole story. The main limits are:
- Flights in a restricted zone without permission
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
- A structural engineer’s report

Drone roof survey in Boyden Gate: what you get
Drone roof surveys are available in Boyden Gate and throughout London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, ring 07833 053749 or email us with the address. We survey tall and steep roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and flat roofs on upper floors, and people most often book us about ridge pieces that have lifted and vegetation in valleys and gutters.
Some older homes in villages like Boyden Gate are listed or in a conservation area. A look by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof. Check with the council before planning any work on a listed building or one in a conservation area.
Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, checking for stains, damp wood or chinks of daylight.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and falls from height are serious. That’s where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where applicable.
How it works
The visit has one job: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Notes and photos go into the written report. The visit normally takes between one and two hours for a house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Older roofs in small places like Boyden Gate can have low, tight loft spaces, so it helps to know whether there is a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Preparing for the visit
- Keep pets out of the way during the survey
- If it is not your property yet, arrange access through the agent
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building

Related advice
What we look for on each type of roof
Chimney stacks
From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. We record what we find with photos.
Valleys and parapet gutters
A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. You cannot see it from the street at all, but a drone shows it clearly.
Questions from Boyden Gate
Do you cover smaller places like Boyden Gate?
Yes. Boyden Gate is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.
Is my home in Boyden Gate listed or in a conservation area?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
Do you carry out surveys on Saturdays and Sundays?
Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you when booking.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. We check the roof, not the whole building, and it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.
Is it a structural engineer’s report?
No. Our survey is not a structural engineer’s report, and it does not include calculations. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we’ll recommend one.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
We are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.
What’s in the report?
It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, backed by photographs. It also says if any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, so you know exactly what was covered.
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord. We agree a time with the tenant beforehand.
Managing agents and residents’ management companies use roof surveys to plan maintenance. Recommendations are set out in order of urgency where relevant, which helps with budgets and planning.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Boyden Gate
Boyden Gate is within about 3 miles of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain. England has around 10,000 conservation areas and about 500,000 listed buildings. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, so check with the council.
If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Church of St Mary the Virgin, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. Anyone responsible for a site like Chislet Church of England Primary School will know that a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.
