Drone roof survey in Broad Street Green: what you get

Our price is from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. We will tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you’ve noticed lead work pulling away at abutments and tired mortar and pots at the top of a stack, we can find out what’s behind it.

Villages like Broad Street Green often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. High wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

Findings are set out part by part, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets. You will see the good as well as the bad.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

To price your survey, we check:

  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • Whether it is a home or a commercial building
  • Height and safe access
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey

There are three survey packages: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, with VAT included. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.

Helping us price your survey

If you can, have these to hand when you contact us:

  • The address and postcode of the property
  • Dates you are working to, like exchange
  • Where water is showing inside, if it is
  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block

Most bookings start with a short call: call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will ask a few questions about the roof. You will have a price before anything is arranged.

Roof by roof

Chimney stacks

Chimney tops are hard to see from ground level. Close-up photos show the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings.

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Leaks frequently start at outlets, edges and around plant. We photograph them closely, as far as the flight allows.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Broad Street Green

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Broad Street Green?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.

How do I find out if my home in Broad Street Green is listed?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It’s worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.

Will you go up on the roof?

Not unless it is safe. Safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.

How soon will I get the report?

Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. All of them come by email, ready to forward.

What’s the best way to book?

To arrange a survey, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address, the type of property and what’s prompted the survey. We’ll confirm the price and find a day that suits.

Is this an asbestos survey?

No. Asbestos surveys and sampling are not something we do. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

Does the report include photographs?

Yes. Photographs are taken throughout the survey, and the report uses them to show each finding alongside our recommendations.

How it works

It is useful to start with what’s prompted the survey: buying, a leak, storm damage, new work or just wanting to know where things stand. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. Most visits take between one and two hours at a typical home, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Around Broad Street Green, older homes can have small or awkward roof spaces, so tell us about the loft hatch and any ladder. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.

  1. First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Point out any leaks or damp patches
  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed

Photos help, if you have them. Take them safely from the ground or a window. To send them or to book, ring 07833 053749 or email us.

Advice

What a drone roof survey looks like in Broad Street Green

Broad Street Green lies within about 3 miles of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Older buildings in Essex often have clay tiles and weatherboarding, while many towns grew with post-war and newer estates. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.

Hotels and guest houses near Broad Street Green can’t easily close rooms for a leak, so it’s worth knowing the roof’s condition. For an older house near a landmark like Church of St Peter, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

When to book a survey in Broad Street Green

Strong winds can lift slates, tiles and ridge pieces. Damage on a high or steep roof is hard to judge from the garden. A drone shows what has slipped, lifted or gone.

A survey can pick up problems such as:

  • Worn lead at chimneys and walls
  • Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
  • Standing water on a flat roof
  • Eroded pointing on a chimney stack

Take a building like Heybridge Primary School: big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once.

Before you book anyone

  • Whether VAT is in the quoted price
  • Which viewpoints they use to see the roof
  • Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • Will they check the loft as well as the outside?

What a roof survey includes

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover

Some things cannot be seen without opening up the roof, and that sets some limits:

  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
  • What’s under the slates, tiles or felt

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you before booking. The full list of what we check.
