Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Broadbridge

Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. The camera stays on your roof, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We inspect only what the owner has asked us to. Each flight is kept short and stays focused on the roof we are there to survey. Typical surveys look at eroded pointing on a chimney stack and slates or tiles shifted by high winds, across flat roofs on upper floors, fragile roofs and chimney stacks.

In a small place like Broadbridge, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

You can share the report with anyone who needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

How we price drone roof surveys

Prices vary from roof to roof, and it comes down to:

  • If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
  • House, block, shop or office
  • The roof’s overall size
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the size and height of the roof, access and which survey you book.

What to tell us when you contact us

We will normally ask about:

  • Whether there is a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
  • What made you get in touch
  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window

Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To find a date that works for you, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address and the days you’d prefer.

Questions from Broadbridge

Is my home in Broadbridge listed or in a conservation area?

Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it’s worth checking before planning any.

Do you cover smaller places like Broadbridge?

Yes. Broadbridge is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work right across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.

Does someone need to be in?

Someone needs to let us in if we are looking inside or in the loft. We’ll talk about access when booking.

How experienced are you?

We have more than 20 years’ experience and have completed over 5,000 surveys.

Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?

No. We check the roof, not the whole building, so it’s not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.

What will the report tell me?

It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, backed by photographs. Anything we couldn’t see safely is noted too.

Are you insured?

We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.

When you need someone else

Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, and that sets some limits:

  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Flights in strong wind or a downpour
  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey

If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Fragile roofs

How the survey works

We will ask a few questions first, such as when any problem began and what work has been done before. Then the inspection itself takes between one and two hours for most houses; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. Somewhere as small as Broadbridge, access is often the only tricky part. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
  4. We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Before we arrive

  • Buyers: confirm access with the estate agent or seller
  • Show us where any leaks or stains appear
  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at

Advice

Practical tips

Most of what helps is simple and safe from ground level. A few suggestions:

  • Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property
  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too

With the Premium Survey, the report arrives the same day. It includes the drone photos where a flight was possible, alongside the other checks in the package.

Every so often, look in the loft space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.

Why get it checked now?

Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By that stage the damage has spread inside. Looking from above picks up the early signs. For older village homes like those around Broadbridge, the right replacement materials aren’t always easy to find quickly. That is one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.

To find out what your survey will cost, ring 07833 053749 or email us and tell us about the roof. We’ll confirm the figure before booking.

Drone roof surveys around Broadbridge

Broadbridge is within about 3 miles of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

Anyone responsible for a site like Bosham Primary School will know that big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.

Surveys in Broadbridge work the same way as everywhere we cover: a close look at what can safely be seen, photos and a clear written report. When to book a survey in Broadbridge

Height and steep pitches make close inspection risky. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. We fly from the ground and bring the camera close to the roof.

We’re often asked to look at:

  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
  • Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
  • Vegetation in valleys and gutters
  • Lead work pulling away at abutments

If your home is one of the older ones in the streets near The United Reformed Church, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image.

Questions to ask before booking
