Need a drone roof survey in West Sussex?

Our drone roof survey service in West Sussex

Prices start from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where applicable, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. We will tell you if a drone isn’t the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. Common reasons to book are slipped or missing slates on a high roof and flashings that have come away, across valleys and parapet gutters, fragile roofs and tall and steep roofs.

Every visit follows the same pattern: we hear what you’ve seen, look at the roof from every safe viewpoint, take photographs as we go and record our findings for the written report. It usually takes roughly 1–2 hours for a house, rising to roughly 3–4 hours on a commercial building.

  1. We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
  2. If permission is needed, we ask for it before the visit.
  3. We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
  4. We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

Near you in Crawley

Typical jobs here are in homes near Friary Church of St Francis and St Anthony, St Wilfrid's Catholic School and Tilgate Park and the streets around them. Also close by are The George Hotel (within half a mile north), Three Bridges Junior School (under half a mile south-east) and St Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School (within half a mile south-east). There is a railway station in Crawley itself: Crawley station. Other landmarks nearby include Crawley Hospital (0.5 miles north-west) and County Mall (under half a mile north-east). For a walk, there’s Tilgate Lake.

Airspace, weather and roofs across West Sussex

From Crawley, Horsham and Worthing to its smaller places, West Sussex has roofs that are tall, steep or hard to see from the ground. Drone photos and thermal images show what cannot be reached safely.

We survey roofs across London and South East England, and West Sussex is part of that. London and South East England have homes from every era, from period terraces to post-war new towns and new estates. Coastal towns and villages in West Sussex see more salt and wind than places inland, and metal fixings and lead suffer for it. Ridges and verges facing the sea are worth checking after every big storm.

Crawley: For businesses in and around places like County Mall, thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof. Take a building like Three Bridges Junior School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

What this survey cannot tell you

Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:

  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • Flights in strong wind or heavy rain

What affects the price in West Sussex

Not every roof costs the same to survey, and it comes down to:

  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
  • The size of the roof
  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings

Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before you book.

What to let us know when you get in touch

When you call or email, these details help:

  • Whether there is a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
  • What kind of property and roof it is
  • What made you get in touch
  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel

Prices start from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on the roof’s size, access and the package, so call 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the details.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses

If you own several properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To arrange surveys for several addresses, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.

A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work.

Should I look at the roof myself first?

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Photograph them and note the date, which helps when we look at the roof.

You can learn a lot from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.

Why act early?

Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Spotting them early keeps the work smaller, whatever height the roof is.

Questions to ask before you book

  • Their report turnaround times
  • Whether you can ask questions once you have the report

FAQs for West Sussex

How much is a survey?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The final figure depends on the roof and the package you choose.

Will the drone show what’s under the tiles?

No. The drone photographs the outer surfaces, but not the loft or the underside. Where there is safe access, we check the roof space from inside.

Will I get photos?

Yes. Photographs are part of every report.

Are you registered with the CAA?

Yes. We hold both a CAA Flyer ID and an Operator ID. We use a sub-250g drone.

Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?

Surveys can be booked for any day of the week: Monday to Friday, Saturdays and Sundays. Tell us which days suit you when booking.

What about my neighbours’ privacy?

The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring gardens or windows. We inspect only the roof you’ve asked about. A word with next door beforehand is a good idea.

Do you test for asbestos?

No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. The report may flag materials that could contain asbestos on buildings built or refurbished before 2000.
