Our roof survey service in GU28
Across London and the South East, roofs differ widely. If your home is a Victorian terrace, it may have Welsh slate, a butterfly roof and parapet gutters, while many post-war homes have concrete interlocking tiles. Whatever yours has, the survey is adapted to it. Some older homes have clay tiles, and many have a flat-roofed extension as well. Each part is checked in the way that suits it. We survey clay and concrete tiles, chimney stacks and flat roofs, and the problems we are asked to look at most are lifted, split or missing lead flashings and ponding, splits or blisters on flat roofs.
There is not much for you to do on the day. Show us any stains, drips or problem areas you know about, and we’ll get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes about 1–2 hours at a typical home, or half a day or so for a commercial building.
- We help you choose a Basic, Standard or Premium Survey.
- We arrive at the agreed time and talk through any concerns.
- Coverings, ridges, hips, valleys, flashings, chimneys and gutters are inspected and photographed.
- Moisture detection, a structural check, thermal imaging or a drone are added where your package includes them.
- You get a written report with photos and clear recommendations.
What you’ll pay
Prices start from £150, inc. VAT, for a Basic Survey. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400. You’ll know the exact price before booking.
What you get with us
- A photo-illustrated written report
- PI and public liability insurance
- An independent look at the roof
- Surveys on weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays
How to book
A quick phone call is usually the easiest start: phone 07833 053749 or email us and we will ask a few questions about the roof. You’ll have a price before anything is arranged.
What’s near Petworth

Homes and roofs across GU28
In GU28, our roof surveys work takes in owners, landlords and managing agents, in Petworth, Lodsworth and Hampers Green and well beyond. Each report sets out what was seen, with photos and recommendations.
Across London and South East England, older homes often have slate or clay tiles, while many later ones have concrete tiles. Each roof in GU28 is checked with its age and materials in mind.
Petworth: Anyone responsible for a site like Petworth Cof E Primary School will know that large buildings have long gutter runs and big roofs that need checking like any other. If you own a rental within reach of Pulborough station, knowing the condition of the roof, chimneys and gutters helps you plan work rather than react to complaints.
Landlord and commercial surveys in GU28
A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work.
If you own several properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To discuss a number of properties, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Why act early?
Roof faults rarely stay the same size. One slipped slate lets water reach the battens and underlay, and wet timber starts to decay. Finding it early keeps the work smaller.
Before booking any surveyor
- Which limits apply to the survey
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
- Whether the price includes VAT
Can I check my roof myself?
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are frequently out of sight.
A lot can be seen from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please do not climb up for a closer look.
Different roofs, different checks
Lead flashings and valleys
Flashings and valleys are where many leaks start. They get particular attention in every survey.
Natural slate
From the loft, we check the underside of a slate roof. There may be old felt underlay, or none at all on very old roofs.
What a survey doesn’t cover
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:
- Asbestos testing of any kind
- A full building survey of the property
- A structural engineer’s report
Questions from GU28
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. It is a specialist roof survey, not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 building survey. It focuses on the roof and can sit alongside a RICS survey.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. Asbestos was banned in UK construction in 1999, so older buildings may have it. Our report notes any materials that might, and a specialist asbestos surveyor should check them.
Can you inspect a terraced or semi-detached roof?
Yes. We inspect what the owner gives us access to. If a problem seems to come from next door, we will say so.
How do I arrange a roof survey in GU28?
To arrange a survey, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and let us know the address and what you want to find out. We will confirm the price and agree a day with you.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Just say which days work for you.
When will the report arrive?
That depends on which survey you choose: Basic within 48 hours, Standard within 24 to 48 hours and Premium the same day. We send it by email.
Does the weather affect the survey?
It depends on the weather and the survey. Strong wind or a downpour can make access unsafe and ground a drone, so we’d move the date with you.
