Worth Abbey Drone Roof Survey
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach in Worth Abbey, using drones and thermal imaging where it applies. Call or email for a price.
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
When to book a survey in Worth Abbey
Height and steep pitches make close inspection risky. Tall townhouses, blocks of flats and offices are typical. A drone gets close-up views from a safe position on the ground.
It’s worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Ridge pieces that have lifted
- Lifted or split lead flashings
- Moss building up on slopes and in gutters
Take a building like Oriel High School: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Drone roof survey in Worth Abbey: what you get
Prices start from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. If a drone won’t help on your roof, we will say so. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you’ve noticed ponding and splits on a high flat roof and slipped or missing slates on a high roof, we can find out what’s behind it, on tall and steep roofs, chimney stacks and flat roofs on upper floors alike.
In a village or hamlet like Worth Abbey, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned in advance. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. That way, it is clear what was covered and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

Leave it or get it looked at?
On a tall building, problems are often found only when water comes in. By that stage the damage has spread inside. A drone survey finds them sooner. In a small place like Worth Abbey, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
Bigger, taller and commercial roofs take more time to survey, so they’re priced to match. You will know the figure before booking.

Tips that help
Nothing here needs a ladder. Our suggestions:
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
- Share the postcode so we can check for restrictions
If you need work done, roofers can work from the photos. They’ll see exactly where each defect is.
Plan a drone survey every few years for tall or large roofs. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, and early repairs keep water out.
FAQs for Worth Abbey
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Worth Abbey?
Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Worth Abbey?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Can you survey a shared roof?
Yes, once access has been agreed. Roofs over flats are often shared, so we need permission from the building owner or managing agent. We can only inspect what we’re given access to.
How long does the survey take?
It typically takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. We’ll confirm the timing when booking.
How much is a survey?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. Our Basic Survey starts from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We are roof surveyors, not structural engineers, and it doesn’t include calculations. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we’ll recommend one.
How soon will I get the report?
Each package has its own report time. Basic: within 48 hours. Standard: 24 to 48 hours. Premium: the same day. If you have a deadline, such as an exchange date, tell us when you book.
The survey, step by step
The visit has one job: to see as much of the roof as can safely be seen and record it clearly. Notes and photos go into the written report. The visit normally takes between one and two hours for most houses, and about three to four hours for a commercial roof. Cottages and farmhouses around Worth Abbey frequently have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. We work round each section in turn, from the safest viewpoints.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- If the loft can be reached safely, it is checked too.
- The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.
Before the survey
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street

Airspace, weather and Worth Abbey roofs
Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. Many older homes in Sussex have handmade clay tiles and tile-hung walls. A few old Sussex buildings still carry heavy Horsham stone slabs. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.
Gravetye Manor, about 2.5 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Worth Abbey. Aerial photos and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it. For an older house near a landmark such as Abbey Church of Our Lady Help of Christians, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps.
Worth Abbey is about 3 miles east of Crawley, in West Sussex. We survey roofs in Worth Abbey and the surrounding area across London and South East England. Our West Sussex coverage includes Worth Abbey.

Rented homes, blocks and businesses
A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work with less disruption.
Letting agents can arrange access with tenants. We survey seven days a week, which helps when tenants work during the week.

What affects the price in Worth Abbey
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. That comes down to:
- How big the roof is
- If the survey needs thermal imaging or a drone
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- Basic, Standard or Premium
Price depends partly on the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all inc. VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
What we need to know
What helps most when you contact us:
- The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
- Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
Photos help, if you have them. Pictures from ground level or a window are fine, and please do not climb up for a closer look. To send them or to book, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
