Pease Pottage Drone Roof Survey
A careful look at the roof at your property in Pease Pottage, and put it all in a report with photos.
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Wind damage high on the roof
- Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Pease Pottage
They suit tall buildings, steep or large roofs and roofs that are hard to see from the ground. They’re useful where walking on the roof could damage it or is not safe. The roof is photographed without being disturbed. Before the visit, we check the address for any airspace restrictions that apply. We will tell you if another approach would work better. Common reasons to book are moss and weeds taking hold up top and standing water on a flat roof, across large and complex roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and valleys and parapet gutters.
Places like Pease Pottage can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map. Open ground can mean stronger wind, which also affects whether a small drone can fly. Each flight is planned with neighbours’ privacy in mind, as well as the airspace and the wind.
How fast the report arrives depends on the package: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

How it works
A survey visit follows a simple order: we listen to what’s been worrying you, inspect the roof from every safe viewpoint, take photographs as we go and make notes for the report. It normally takes an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Parking around Pease Pottage is usually easier than in a town centre, but mention lanes, gates or long drives. Low roofs on bungalows can frequently be seen well from ground level, and the loft shows the rest, while taller roofs may need other vantage points or the drone where it applies.
- First comes the address, plus a note of what worries you about the roof.
- Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
- We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.
Before we arrive
- Agree roof access with the managing agent if it is shared
- If you are buying, let the agent know when we are coming
- Note where any stains or damp appear

Advice
How the survey changes by roof type
Steep slate and tile slopes
Walking on fragile coverings can break them. A drone avoids that.
Valleys and parapet gutters
When a parapet outlet blocks, water can come inside. We check outlets and photograph any build-up.
Airspace, weather and Pease Pottage roofs
Pease Pottage is about 2 miles from the edge of the flight restriction zone around Gatwick Airport. We check the exact boundary for the address before flying, and if the roof falls inside it, we ask for permission first. Pease Pottage is part of Crawley, one of the post-war new towns. Many homes in the new towns date from the post-war decades, with concrete interlocking tiles, low-pitched roofs and flat-roofed garages and porches. Low-pitched roofs can be hard to see from the street, which is where a drone or thermal camera helps.
Shop and office owners around County Mall may find that thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof. Anyone responsible for a site like Discovery New School will know that a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. With Tyes Place about 3.4 miles south, the area around Pease Pottage has a long history. A drone or thermal survey does not involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings.

Questions from Pease Pottage
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Pease Pottage?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it is in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Is Pease Pottage within the area you cover?
Yes. Pease Pottage is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.
Can you fly a drone near an airport?
Only with the right permission. Airports like Gatwick, Luton and Southampton have flight restriction zones, and a flight inside one needs the airport’s or air traffic control’s say-so. Without it, we inspect from other safe viewpoints.
How experienced are you?
We have completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs, with 98% customer satisfaction.
Will the drone show what’s under the tiles?
No. It sees only the outer surfaces. The underside tells us things the drone can’t, so we inspect the loft space as well where access is safe.
Will you go up on the roof?
Not unless it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
Our surveys are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. Ask if you need details for a managing agent or building owner.

When you need someone else
Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so there are some things a survey can’t cover:
- A structural engineer’s report
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
If you’re not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book. What a survey covers and doesn’t.
What we check
- Fragile roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Chimney stacks
- Tall and steep roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
For landlords and managing agents
Shared roofs need a little more planning: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it when booking and we’ll plan the visit with that in mind.
Managing agents and residents’ management companies use roof surveys to plan maintenance. The report sets out what needs attention now and what can wait, which helps when budgeting.
What happens if roof problems are left?
A drone record gives you a baseline. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It helps when you plan ahead. Around Pease Pottage, leaves and moss in gutters lead to overflowing water and damp walls. Dealing with the cause is simple; drying out a wall is not.
Every price we give includes VAT. Prices start from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before booking.

Should I look at the roof myself first?
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
