Little London questions
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Little London?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Is Little London within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.
What do I do with the report?
You’ll receive the report by email, and what you do next is up to you: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Just say which days work for you.
Will I get photos?
Yes, every report has them. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible, so you can see what we mean.
Does the weather affect the survey?
It can, depending on the survey. Drones can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best after a sunny day, with a dry roof and little wind. If the conditions aren’t right, we will talk to you about another date.
What will the report tell me?
A report with photographs, covering the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend, with the most urgent first where relevant. The Standard Survey adds moisture detection and a structural check, and the Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies and structural analysis.
Drone roof survey in Little London
Drone surveys suit tall houses, blocks of flats, steep roofs and large commercial roofs. They also suit fragile roofs that nobody should walk on. The roof is photographed without being disturbed. We check the airspace for your address ahead of the visit. If a drone isn’t the right tool, we will say so. We’re often asked to look into gaps where slates or tiles have gone and damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below, across fragile roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and large and complex roofs.
In a village or hamlet like Little London, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
Every survey ends with a written report, with photos, emailed to you. It explains the condition of the roof, the defects we found and what we recommend.

What we’re asked to look at in Little London
After storms, owners want to know what has moved. Damage on a high or steep roof is hard to judge from the garden. Close-up photos make it clear what has been disturbed.
Most people get in touch after spotting something like this:
- Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as St Peter's CofE Primary School, big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once.
Choosing a roof surveyor
- Are they insured for the work?
- What the report includes, and whether it has photographs
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- Which parts of the roof they’ll actually see
What a survey costs
What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. The main factors are:
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- How big the roof is
- House, block, shop or office
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
Prices start from £400, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included, and we’ll tell you which fits.

The survey, step by step
Before we start, let us know why you’ve booked: buying, a leak, storm damage, new work or just wanting to know where things stand. It helps us focus on what matters most to you. The visit usually takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Somewhere like Little London needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. The roof is looked at from the ground, from windows, from the loft where there is safe access and from the roof where it’s safe.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
How to prepare
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in

Should I look at the roof myself first?
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery. That is where a survey comes in.
A lot can be seen from the ground. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.
Rented homes, blocks and businesses
A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work around your tenants.
If you own several properties, surveys can be booked for more than one address. To arrange surveys for several addresses, ring 07833 053749 or email us.
What a drone roof survey looks like in Little London
The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times. The wider area around Little London has a long history of building, with Priest House about 1.8 miles north-east. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs.
If you live in an older home near St Peter's Church, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.

What we cannot see
Some things cannot be seen without opening up the roof, and that sets some limits:
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
