Drone roof survey in Singleton
Tall, steep, large or fragile roofs cannot always be inspected up close. Our drone roof survey gets a camera close to them without anyone climbing. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly, including slopes that can’t be seen from the street. Everything we find goes into a photo-illustrated written report. It also suits roofs that would be damaged by someone walking on them. If we can’t fly, we tell you why. If you’re worried about coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and plant growth and moss on the roof, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on large and complex roofs, chimney stacks and fragile roofs alike.
In a small place like Singleton, open ground can mean strong wind. High wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
Findings are set out part by part, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets, with a note and a photo for each point. It records what’s sound as well as what isn’t.

How it works
We check the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there’s safe access, from inside the roof space too. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey usually takes about 1–2 hours for a house, or half a day or so for a commercial building. For a village or hamlet like Singleton, the journey is planned ahead of time: tell us about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. On the day, we inspect whatever is safely visible, inside and out.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Advice
Tips that help
A survey works best with a little help from you, before and after. Tips:
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
- Give us the full address so we can check the airspace
- Make sure there’s room outside for the drone to take off
- Expect a little longer if permission is needed
Your report arrives by email, including the close-up photos taken by the drone. Findings are set out in plain English, and recommendations are ranked by urgency where that helps.
Have leaves and moss cleared from gutters, valleys and outlets, particularly in autumn. On high roofs, leave clearing to a professional. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.
What happens if roof problems are left?
Faults on high roofs tend to be found late. By then, timbers, ceilings and insulation may be wet. A drone survey finds them sooner. For an older or listed building in a place like Singleton, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where it applies) come with the Premium Survey, from £400 with VAT included. We’ll tell you which package suits the questions you have.

Common questions in Singleton
Is Singleton within the area you cover?
Yes, Singleton is covered. We survey roofs across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.
Are there drone restrictions around Singleton?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. This is a survey of the roof only, and it isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.
How do I book a survey in Singleton?
Just ring 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address. We will ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date, weekday or weekend.
What will the report tell me?
It explains what we saw, what it means and what we’d suggest, with photographs throughout. Anything we couldn’t see safely is noted too, so you know exactly what was covered.
I live in a flat. Can you survey the roof?
Yes. A shared roof needs access agreed first. Mention it when you contact us and we’ll plan the survey around it.
Do you look in the loft space?
Where it’s relevant to the survey and there is safe access, yes. A clear path to the hatch helps.
Landlords, agents and block managers in Singleton
Buyers’ agents can book surveys on behalf of their clients. Reports are emailed, so they’re easy to pass on.
Letting agents can arrange access with tenants. We survey seven days a week, which helps when tenants work during the week.
What we can’t see
In fairness, a roof survey has limits:
- Photos in conditions too poor to fly
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
- A structural engineer’s report
If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.

- Tall and steep roofs
Flying and imaging in Singleton
Older houses across Sussex frequently have handmade clay tiles, and many have tile-hanging on their upper walls. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old Sussex buildings. Many roofs like these cannot be judged properly from the pavement, and that is where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.
If you look after a building such as Singleton CofE Primary School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. If you live in an older home near The Parish Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps. West Dean House, about 1.2 miles west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Singleton. Close-up aerial shots and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.
