Drone roof survey in Littlehampton
Drones need reasonable weather. Strong wind or heavy rain rules out a flight, because control and safety come first. If the day turns out unsuitable, we’ll talk about another date. We check the forecast ahead of the visit and again on site. Light wind and dry weather give the clearest close-up photos. Waiting for a better day is better than a rushed flight. Typical surveys look at eroded pointing on a chimney stack and flashings that have come away, across flat roofs on upper floors, large and complex roofs and chimney stacks.
In a town like Littlehampton, the roofs that are hardest to see are often on taller buildings, steep slopes or the backs of terraces. Close-up drone photos and thermal images show what binoculars from the pavement can’t. Both depend on the weather on the day, so the date is set with the forecast in mind. A typical example is the rear slope over a back addition, which cannot be seen from the street.
You receive the findings by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

What we do, step by step
We work from the outside in: outside views come first, then the loft space if there’s safe access. All told, expect between one and two hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Most visits in a town like Littlehampton start at the front of the house and work round to the back. Rear gardens and side paths frequently give the best view of extensions and back slopes, so unlocked gates help. Then, if it can be reached safely, we look in the loft.
- You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
- Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
- Leave a clear route to the loft
- Keep pets in another room

Flying and imaging in Littlehampton
Littlehampton is within about 1 mile of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Handmade clay tiles and tile-hung upper walls are typical of older Sussex houses. Horsham stone slab roofs survive on some old Sussex buildings. Older coverings on steep or tall roofs are hard to judge from below, so close-up aerial photos and thermal images help.
If you own one of the older houses in the streets near The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. A roof leak in a hotel or guest house around Littlehampton means lost rooms as well as repairs, so it pays to find faults before guests do.
Littlehampton is about 6 miles west of Worthing, in West Sussex. Whether the building in Littlehampton is a house, a flat or a commercial unit, we can survey the roof on a weekday or at the weekend. We cover towns and villages across West Sussex, large and small. We also survey roofs in Brighton.
Postcode districts we cover here for drone roof surveys: BN17 and BN16. We offer drone roof surveys to properties on High Street, Parkside Avenue and Norman Close and the roads around them. What a survey costs
Prices always include VAT. The things that change the price are:
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- Height and safe access
- Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
All our prices include VAT. Our price is from £400, including VAT. You will know the price for the job before you book.
What we need to know
Getting the details right at the start saves time. It helps to include:
- The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
- The property’s address and postcode
- What kind of property and roof it is
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
Surveys can be booked for weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays. To arrange a day that suits you, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email with the address and the days you’d prefer.
Questions from Littlehampton
Are there drone restrictions around Littlehampton?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.
Is Littlehampton in the area you cover?
We do. Every survey there gets the same written report with photos, and visits run on weekdays and weekends.
Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?
Surveys run on weekdays and at weekends. To find a day that suits you, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.
Do I have to be there for the survey?
It depends on what we need to see. For inside areas and the loft space, someone has to give us access.
Does the weather affect the survey?
Light rain does not normally stop a survey. Strong wind or a downpour can stop drone flights and make roof access unsafe, so if conditions are not right we will arrange another day with you.
How fast do I get the report?
Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. Each one is emailed.
What does a roof survey cost?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Our three packages are Basic from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, inc. VAT.

What else we do in Littlehampton
Do you need a drone roof survey in Littlehampton?
Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. The drone covers the surface area by area. You see the whole roof, not just the parts near an access point.
These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
Take a building like The Littlehampton Academy: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.
Before booking anyone
- What exactly goes into their report
- Which viewpoints they use to see the roof
- Whether you can ask questions once you have the report
- Will they check the loft as well as the outside?
Why act early in Littlehampton
With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. They show the location and extent of each defect. Once water reaches the loft insulation in a home in Littlehampton, it loses much of its value and is slow to dry. That adds to the bill long before the leak is obvious.
The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where it applies, from £400 including VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you want to find out.

What you can safely check yourself
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery. That part is for a survey.
You can learn a lot from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please do not climb up for a closer look.
When you need someone else
To be straight with you, there are limits to any roof survey:
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
- Flights in high wind or heavy rain
- Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll tell you before booking. What our survey covers.
