Drone roof surveys for Slaugham homes and businesses

What happens if roof problems are left?

From the ground, you are guessing about most of a tall roof. A drone replaces that guesswork with clear photos. It’s far easier to plan work when you can see the problem. Older cottages and farmhouses around Slaugham can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it is left.

All our prices include VAT. Prices start from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for the job before booking.

About our drone roof survey in Slaugham

A drone can see more than your roof, so we take care. We keep the camera on the roof we are surveying, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. Typical surveys look at hidden gutters full of leaves and cracked mortar along the ridge, on flat roofs on upper floors, chimney stacks and tall and steep roofs.

In a small place like Slaugham, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

You receive the findings by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

Slaugham: your questions answered

Do you cover smaller places like Slaugham?

Yes. Slaugham is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. Our area covers London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there as you book.

How do I find out if my home in Slaugham is listed?

You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it is in a conservation area. Listed building consent is needed for changes that affect a listed building’s special interest, and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Slaugham?

Just call 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address. We will ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date, weekday or weekend.

What does the report include?

It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, and ends with what we recommend. The most urgent items are made clear.

When does the report arrive?

Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. Each one is emailed.

Do I have to be there for the survey?

Not always. An outside-only look can be arranged beforehand, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes, as long as access is agreed. The roof of a block or converted house is often shared, so the building owner or managing agent needs to agree access. We inspect only the parts we are allowed to reach.

How it works

Photos are taken throughout the visit, so the report shows exactly what we saw. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available. A typical visit takes an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Cottages and farmhouses around Slaugham often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can safely be seen.

  1. First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. We also look inside the roof space where it’s safe.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Keep pets inside or away from the areas we are looking at
  • Let us know about parking before the day
  • Check the loft hatch can be reached

What we look for on each type of roof

Valleys and parapet gutters

A butterfly roof drains to a central valley gutter. It’s almost impossible to see from ground level, but a drone shows it clearly.

Chimney stacks

Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. Each defect is photographed for the report.

What this survey cannot tell you

Every survey has limits, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Bear these in mind:

  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
  • A structural engineer’s report
  • A flight where airspace permission is refused

If in doubt, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will suggest the right survey before you book. What a survey covers and does not.

Roof types and parts we check

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

What a survey costs

Not every roof costs the same to survey, and it comes down to:

  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • Basic, Standard or Premium
  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings
  • The roof’s overall size

A Basic Survey starts from £150, including VAT. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400. We confirm the exact price before booking.

Booking your survey

A few details help us point you to the right survey and price. When you contact us, let us know:

  • Your postcode, so we can check access and travel
  • Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
  • Dates you’re working to, like exchange
  • The kind of building and roof involved

Photos help, if you have them. Pictures from ground level or a window are fine. To get started, ring 07833 053749 or email us.

Tips from our surveys

Nothing here needs a ladder. A few suggestions:

  • Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone
  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof

The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. They’ll see exactly where each defect is, so their quotes cover the same ground.

Every so often, look in the roof space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. A drone sees the outside, but the loft shows leaks and condensation from below. Photograph anything new.

Drones, thermal imaging and Slaugham roofs

Historic houses such as Tyes Place, about 1.8 miles east, show how far back building in the area around Slaugham goes. On older houses around here, roofs often carry the marks of earlier repairs, from replaced slates to new lead, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight.

Take a building like Warninglid Primary School: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. Take an older house close to St Mary's Church: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
