About our drone roof survey in East Hampnett
Drone roof surveys are available in East Hampnett and throughout London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly on weekdays and at weekends. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. We survey chimney stacks, flat roofs on upper floors and valleys and parapet gutters, and people most often book us about storm damage on steep or tall roofs and lifted or split lead flashings.
In a village or hamlet like East Hampnett, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Weather and airspace are looked at before the visit. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.
Nothing in the report is left vague: where something needs attention, it says so plainly, along with how urgent it is.

Can I check my roof myself?
Your own check is a good start, but it isn’t a survey. You won’t see flashings, valleys or the backs of chimneys properly from ground level, and those are details a survey looks at closely.
After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: broken slates or tiles in the garden, gaps along the ridge or loose lead are signs to note. Do not go up yourself.
What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
Some things can’t be seen without opening up the roof, and that sets some limits:
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we’re surveying
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll tell you before booking. The full list of what we check.

How the survey works
Photographs are taken throughout the visit, so the report shows exactly what we saw. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available. A typical visit takes about one to two hours on an ordinary house, and longer for a large or complex roof. Rural addresses near East Hampnett can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
- Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
- The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Leave side gates unlocked

Photos help, if you have them. Take them safely from ground level or a window, and please don’t climb up for a closer look. To send them or to book, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Tips that help
There’s plenty you can do without going near the roof. Here’s what helps most:
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
- Make sure the loft can be reached
- Shut pets inside while we fly
- Let us know the exact address when you book
The report gives any roofer you ask to quote a clear brief. They’ll see exactly where each defect is, so their quotes cover the same ground.
Look at the roof from ground level after strong winds. Pieces of slate or tile on the ground mean something has moved. A drone survey can show what has shifted.
Questions from East Hampnett
Is my home in East Hampnett listed or in a conservation area?
You can check whether a building is listed on Historic England’s list, and your council can tell you if it’s in a conservation area. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Is drone flying allowed in East Hampnett?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. East Hampnett is about 3 miles from Goodwood Aerodrome, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. High wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
How soon will I get the report?
Report times are set by the package. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. If you have a deadline, such as an exchange date, let us know when you book.
Does someone need to be in?
Not necessarily. An outside-only look can be arranged beforehand, but anything inside needs someone there to give access.
How long is the visit?
Most surveys take between one and two hours on an ordinary house, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. We’ll confirm the timing when booking.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. We look at the roof, not the whole building, and it isn’t a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Many buyers have both.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes. Photographs are part of every report, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.
Why get it checked now?
Small defects on a high roof grow with each storm. Spotting them early keeps the work smaller, whatever height the roof is. Around East Hampnett, older homes often have old roof timbers, and water through a failed covering can rot timber if it is left.
The cost of a survey depends on the roof: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how it can be reached and seen safely. Prices start from £400, including VAT.

Drones, thermal imaging and East Hampnett roofs
Goodwood Aerodrome is about 3 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. About 2.4 miles north-west lies Goodwood House, a reminder of how long the area around East Hampnett has been built on. Older homes in the wider area often have features worth a closer look, such as lead valleys, tall stacks and roofs that have been patched over the years, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.
For site and facilities teams at buildings like Tangmere Primary Academy, big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once. Take an older house close to The Parish Church of St Mary: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps.
