Drone roof survey in Lickfold

We carry out drone roof surveys in Lickfold and across London and the South East, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly on weekdays and at weekends. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address. We survey large and complex roofs, valleys and parapet gutters and tall and steep roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are eroded pointing on a chimney stack and moss building up on slopes and in gutters.

In a small place like Lickfold, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

How fast the report arrives depends on the package: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

What happens if roof problems are left?

It’s hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. You get photos of every part we can see. That helps you put the work in order. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Lickfold, driving rain gets into any weakness, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Every price we give includes VAT. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for your roof before booking.

Lickfold questions

Is my home in Lickfold listed or in a conservation area?

Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Lickfold?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.

Is this a RICS survey?

No. This is a survey of the roof only, so it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. It can sit alongside a RICS survey if you want both.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

Surveys run seven days a week. To arrange a date, phone 07833 053749 or email us.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. Asbestos surveys and sampling are not something we do. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it.

What insurance do you have?

We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.

How experienced are you?

We’ve been surveying roofs for over 20 years and have completed over 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.

Useful tips for Lickfold property owners

Most of what helps is simple and safe from the ground. Our suggestions:

  • Share the postcode so we can check for restrictions
  • Check there’s room outside for the drone to take off
  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
  • Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone

Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit, and whether work has done its job.

Check the loft now and then, with care and a good torch. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Take photos of any changes.

What happens on the day

We photograph the roof as we go, so the report shows exactly what we saw. Close-ups come from the safest viewpoint available, including by drone where it’s applicable and the weather allows. Most surveys take roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Rural addresses near Lickfold can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
  3. The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
  4. Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Before the survey

  • If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent
  • Clear the way to the loft hatch
  • Point out any leaks or damp patches

Advice

What we cannot see

In fairness, a roof survey has limits:

  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
  • What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
  • Close-up photos of next door’s property

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

Roofs we survey in Lickfold

  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Chimney stacks
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Fragile roofs

Checking the roof from the ground

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

After strong wind, take a look from the pavement or garden: pieces of tile or slate on the ground, a gap in the ridge or a lifted flashing are all worth noting. Leave anything above ground level to a survey.

How the survey changes by roof type

Chimney stacks

From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. Each defect is photographed for the report.

Ridges and hips

Some ridges are fixed with mortar, others with dry-fix systems. Their condition is noted in the report.

Drone roof surveys around Lickfold

About 3.4 miles south-west lies Cowdray House, a reminder of how long the area around Lickfold has been built on. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

If yours is one of the older homes in the streets near The Parish Church of St Lawrence, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps.
