Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Bramber

Drone roof surveys are available in Bramber and throughout London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly seven days a week. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, call 07833 053749 or send us an email. If you are worried about gaps where slates or tiles have gone and cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on tall and steep roofs, large and complex roofs and chimney stacks alike.

In a village or hamlet like Bramber, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you can’t get from ground level. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

Findings are set out part by part, from the coverings down to the gutters, with a note and a photo for each point. You’ll see the good as well as the bad.

Checking the roof from the ground

During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.

It is useful to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when you book, as it helps us focus the survey.

What happens if roof problems are left?

On a tall building, problems are often found only when water comes in. By then, timbers, ceilings and insulation may be wet. Looking from above picks up the early signs. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Bramber, driving rain gets into any weakness, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: how big it is, how high it is, the number of separate roofs and how it can be reached and seen safely. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT.

What this survey cannot tell you

Without opening up the roof, some things stay hidden, so a survey has limits:

  • A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
  • Structural calculations (that’s a structural engineer’s job)
  • Close-up photos of next door’s property

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll tell you. What our survey covers.

What this survey covers

  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks

For landlords and managing agents

With a portfolio of properties, you can book surveys for several addresses. To discuss a number of properties, call 07833 053749 or send us an email with the addresses.

Freeholders and residents’ companies use a roof report to plan and budget, with the most urgent items set out first.

Common questions in Bramber

Are there drone restrictions around Bramber?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Is Bramber within the area you cover?

We do. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

Does this replace a RICS home survey?

No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you’ll need a RICS survey as well.

When does the report arrive?

That depends on the survey you book: the Basic Survey report arrives within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey the same day. The report is emailed to you.

How many surveys have you done?

More than 5,000 surveys over 20+ years, across London and South East England.

Does the weather affect the survey?

Light rain doesn’t normally stop a survey. Heavy rain or strong wind can ground a drone and make the roof unsafe, so if conditions are not right we will arrange another day with you.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. We can flag materials that might contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. It may be present in buildings built or refurbished before 2000.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys

Prices vary from roof to roof, and it comes down to:

  • How many separate roofs there are, such as extensions, dormers and garages
  • Which survey package you book
  • Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
  • The roof’s overall size

Every price we give includes VAT. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. You’ll know the price for the job before booking.

Helping us price your survey

Here’s what helps us most when you get in touch:

  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
  • The reason for the survey, like buying, a leak or storm damage
  • Where the property is, with the postcode
  • Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors

Prices start from £400, including VAT. The exact figure depends on the roof and the package, and you can ring 07833 053749 or email us to find out.

What we do, step by step

Where it’s relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging. The whole visit normally takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In a hamlet or village like Bramber, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. We assess the conditions and the take-off spot first.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • For a flat or shared roof, check access with the building owner or managing agent
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work
  • If it isn’t your property yet, arrange access through the agent

What a drone roof survey looks like in Bramber

Bramber lies within about 5 miles of the sea, and wind near the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain. The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Open category rules keep flights below 120 m (400 ft) and the drone within sight at all times.

If you run a hotel or guest house in or near Bramber, a roof problem can mean rooms out of use, so it pays to find faults before guests do. The streets around a church such as The Parish Church of St Nicholas are often among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. Anyone responsible for a site like Upper Beeding Primary School will know that a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.
