Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in North Heath
We carry out drone roof surveys in North Heath and across London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photos and recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address. Common reasons to book are moss building up on slopes and in gutters and hidden gutters full of leaves, across flat roofs on upper floors, valleys and parapet gutters and fragile roofs.
Somewhere as small as North Heath, older roofs are often steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned beforehand. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
You receive the findings by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

What we look for on each type of roof
Large commercial roofs
Large commercial roofs cover a lot of ground. A drone photographs the whole surface methodically.
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Flat roof coverings wear out at different rates. Photos show how the covering is wearing.
How the survey works
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. The inspection then takes an hour or two for most houses, with bigger or more complicated roofs taking longer. In a hamlet or village like North Heath, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it before the visit.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- If you’re buying, check with the agent that we can get in
- Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
- Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand

Airspace, weather and North Heath roofs
Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. In Sussex, older roofs are often handmade clay tile, frequently with tile-hanging on the walls below. Some old buildings in Sussex have Horsham stone slab roofs. Steep or complicated roofs are often hard to see from ground level, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.
Old Place Manor lies about 2.1 miles south-west, so building around North Heath goes back a long way. Close-up aerial shots and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.
North Heath is about 9 miles south-west of Horsham, in West Sussex. North Heath is part of the area we cover as part of our work across London and South East England. Across West Sussex, we cover North Heath and the places around it. Crawley is in our area too.

Common questions in North Heath
Can you fly a drone over a roof in North Heath?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Is North Heath within the area you cover?
Yes. North Heath is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only when it is safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.
What happens next?
The report arrives by email, with photographs and clear recommendations. The Standard Survey includes a follow-up consultation, and the Premium Survey an in-person consultation.
Does this replace a RICS home survey?
No. We are experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.
What does a roof survey cost?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. The final figure depends on the roof and the package you choose.
What if it rains on the day?
Light rain doesn’t typically stop a survey. Strong wind or a downpour can stop drone flights and make roof access unsafe, so we will agree a new date if the weather isn’t suitable.
Checking the roof from the ground
During heavy rain, look at the gutters from ground level or a window. Water spilling over the edge can be a sign of a blockage or a gutter that has dropped.
You can learn a lot from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in North Heath
Strong winds can lift slates, tiles and ridge pieces. Damage on a high or steep roof is hard to judge from the garden. Close-up photos make it clear what has been disturbed.
These are some of the problems a survey can pick up:
- Vegetation in valleys and gutters
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
- Outlets choked with leaves and silt
Around North Heath, as everywhere, small roof faults are simplest to sort before they let water in.
What to check before booking
- Do they have a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID for drone work?
- Are they insured for the work?
- How soon the report will arrive
- Whether the price includes VAT
Leave it or get it looked at?
With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. You can show exactly where the problem is. For an older or listed building in a place like North Heath, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so a defect found early gives time to plan the work properly.
Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on how big and how high the roof is, access and which survey you book.

Tips from our surveys
Getting the most from a drone roof survey starts before we arrive and carries on afterwards. Some tips:
- Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
- Move stored items away from the hatch
- Tell us about any leaks or concerns
- Share the postcode so we can check for restrictions
Keep the photos with your property records. They’re a useful baseline for future surveys.
Every so often, look in the loft space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. The underside frequently shows problems before the outside does. Photograph anything new.
