Tips that help

There is plenty you can do without going near the roof. What helps most:

  • A word with neighbours beforehand helps
  • Allow for a change of day in poor weather
  • Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
  • Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off

File the report and photos with your home documents. They give you something to compare against later, and they help if you sell.

After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone can show exactly what has moved.

Drone roof survey in Brookmans Park

Neighbours’ privacy matters on every flight. The camera stays on your roof, not on neighbouring homes and gardens. If your roof is shared, a word with next door beforehand helps. We inspect only what the owner has asked us to. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. Common reasons to book are lifted or split lead flashings and ponding and splits on a high flat roof, on tall and steep roofs, fragile roofs and large and complex roofs.

Villages like Brookmans Park frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

It is not only a list of defects. It explains what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, so you can decide what to do next.

When you need someone else

No survey can tell you everything, and we’d rather be clear about that before you book. Keep these in mind:

  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
  • Close-up photos of next door’s property
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission

If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we will give you a straight answer. What a survey covers and doesn’t.

What we check

  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Chimney stacks
  • Fragile roofs
  • Large and complex roofs

What a survey costs

Prices vary from roof to roof, and it comes down to:

  • Commercial roofs and larger buildings
  • The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • Building height and the viewpoints available

Prices start from £150, inc. VAT, for a Basic Survey. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, both including VAT. You’ll know the price for your roof before booking.

Booking your survey

You do not need to know any roofing terms. Just let us know:

  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
  • Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
  • What made you get in touch
  • Anything about access we should know

Booking is simple: just ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email, let us know about the property and we’ll recommend the right survey. The price is agreed up front.

How the survey works

Every roof is different, but as a rough guide the survey takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. You’re welcome to ask questions while we’re there. Somewhere as small as Brookmans Park, access is frequently the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Find any records of previous roof work
  • Show us where any leaks or stains appear

Advice

What we are asked to look at in Brookmans Park

Strong winds can lift slates, tiles and ridge pieces. It is hard to tell from below what has shifted. Close-up photos make it clear what has been disturbed.

Look out for signs like these:

  • Standing water on a flat roof
  • Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
  • Vegetation in valleys and gutters
  • Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below

With Wyllyotts Manor about 1.8 miles south, the area around Brookmans Park has a long history. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself.

Questions to ask before booking

  • What follow-up you get after the report
  • Whether you get a written report with photos
  • How long they’ve been surveying roofs
  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection

Common questions in Brookmans Park

Do you cover smaller places like Brookmans Park?

Yes, we do. We work right across London and the South East, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it helps to know about access.

Are there drone restrictions around Brookmans Park?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.

Does the weather affect the survey?

It depends on the weather and the survey. In strong wind or a downpour, a drone can’t fly and access may not be safe, so we’d move the date with you.

What happens after the survey?

The report arrives by email, with photographs and clear recommendations. With Standard there’s a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation, so you can talk the findings through.

How long does the survey take?

It normally takes between one and two hours at most homes, and longer for a large or complex roof. You’ll then get the report by email.

How many surveys have you done?

Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys, across London and South East England.

Can you give me structural calculations?

No. We are roof surveyors, not structural engineers. If we see signs that need an engineer’s opinion, we will recommend one.

Flying and imaging in Brookmans Park

Older houses in the South East often have slate or clay tile roofs, while many later estates have concrete tiles. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

If your house is among the older ones in the streets near United Reformed Church Brookmans Park, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. If you look after a building such as Chancellor's School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.
