About our drone roof survey in Bulstrode

A drone can see more than your roof, so we take care. We keep the camera on the roof we are surveying, not on gardens or windows next door. If your roof is joined to a neighbour’s, it is worth letting them know about the visit. We survey the roof you’ve asked us to look at. Flights are kept as short as the job allows and focused on the roof in question. Common reasons to book are hidden gutters full of leaves and flat roofs on upper floors that hold water, across valleys and parapet gutters, large and complex roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.

Villages like Bulstrode frequently stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

The report records the roof as we found it on the day. It’s useful right away, and a good reference for later, for example when you want to check whether anything has changed.

How the survey changes by roof type

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Leaks often start at outlets, edges and around plant. We photograph them closely.

Ridges and hips

Wind lifts loose ridge and hip tiles. Finding them early keeps them from coming down.

Drone roof surveys in Bulstrode: local notes

Chenies Manor House, about 3 miles south, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Bulstrode. Older roofs in the wider area can hide decades of patch repairs, so the detail matters, and the council can say whether a home is in a conservation area. We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Church of St Lawrence, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. If you look after a building such as Bovingdon Primary Academy, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

How we price drone roof surveys

Every roof is different, so prices are confirmed before booking. These are the things that affect it:

  • Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
  • The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
  • The size of the roof

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. Basic starts from £150, Standard from £250 and Premium from £400, VAT included, and we’ll tell you which fits.

What to let us know when you contact us

A little information up front helps. It helps to include:

  • What made you get in touch
  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
  • The style of property, from a terrace to a block
  • Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside

A quick phone call is usually the easiest start: ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll ask a few questions about the roof. You’ll have a price before anything is arranged.

Can I check my roof myself?

Watch the gutters in a downpour, from a window or the ground. Water spilling over the edge can point to a blockage or a sagging run.

It helps to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Send it with your enquiry.

What this survey can’t tell you

A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. Its limits include:

  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey

If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before you book. What our survey covers.

What we look at

  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Fragile roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Chimney stacks
  • Large and complex roofs

The survey, step by step

The aim of the visit is simple: to look at the roof as closely as is safe and record what we find. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. The visit normally takes about 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, though large, tall or awkward roofs take more time. Somewhere like Bulstrode needs a little journey planning: let us know about narrow lanes, gates, long drives and where we can park. The roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from the loft where there’s safe access and from the roof where it’s safe.

  1. You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
  2. We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
  3. Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.

Before we arrive

  • Check pets are kept safely away
  • Let us know where we can park nearby
  • Point out any leaks or damp patches

Getting a price

If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Pictures from the ground or a window are fine. To get started, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email.

Advice

Questions from Bulstrode

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Bulstrode?

Normally it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Will you come out to Bulstrode?

Yes, Bulstrode is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.

Can you survey at the weekend?

We carry out surveys seven days a week. To find a day that suits you, call 07833 053749 or send us an email.

How many surveys have you done?

We have completed more than 5,000 surveys, across 20+ years of surveying roofs.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. We are experienced roof surveyors, and visible signs such as sagging are noted, but we do not provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. The report will say if you need an engineer.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with the building owner or managing agent. Let us know about it as you book and we’ll plan the survey around it.

How do I book a survey in Bulstrode?

To arrange a survey, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and let us know the address and what you need to know. We will confirm the price and find a day that suits.
