Drone roof survey in Darland, Medway
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach around Darland, with a written report you can act on. Weekday and weekend visits available.
- Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
- Ridge pieces that have lifted
- Damage after a storm that cannot be seen from below
Why act early in Darland
It’s hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. You get photos of every part we can see, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant. That helps you put the work in order. In a small place like Darland, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.
A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.

Drone roof survey in Darland
Drone roof surveys are available in Darland and throughout London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email. We survey large and complex roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and valleys and parapet gutters, and common reasons people get in touch are gaps where slates or tiles have gone and blocked valleys and parapet gutters.
Villages like Darland often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
We write the report in plain English, so you do not need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photograph where possible, with the urgent items made clear.

Drone roof surveys around Darland
Darland lies within about 3 miles of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour. Darland is about 3 miles from Rochester Airport, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly.
For businesses in and around places like Pentagon Shopping Centre, large commercial roofs are often easiest to see by drone or thermal camera. Anyone responsible for a site like Kingfisher Community Primary School will know that big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Darland?
Chimney tops take the worst of the weather. Cracked flaunching, loose pots and eroded pointing are often invisible from below. A drone gets close enough to see them in detail.
Problems we come across often include:
- Ridge and hip pieces working loose
- Moss and weeds taking hold up top
- Standing water on a flat roof
- Cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below
The streets around a church such as Christ Church are frequently among the oldest in a place, and if yours is one of the older homes nearby, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image.
Questions to ask before booking
- What the survey will not cover
- Whether you get a written report with photos
- Whether the inside of the roof is included
- What happens after the report arrives

What affects the price in Darland
Survey packages start from £150, including VAT. The price for your roof depends on:
- The use of thermal imaging or a drone
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, from £400 including VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you’d like to know.
Booking your survey
The more you tell us, the easier it is to price the survey. When you contact us, let us know:
- The type of building and roof, such as pitched or flat
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from ground level or a window
- Dates you’re working to, like exchange
- What made you get in touch
To arrange a survey, call 07833 053749 or drop us an email and let us know the address and what’s prompted the survey. We will confirm the price before you book.
How the survey works
After the inspection, everything we found is written up in a report with photographs. On timing, it normally takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a hamlet or village like Darland, a postcode doesn’t always lead to the right gate, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- We check the airspace and seek any permission needed.
- On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
- We fly the sub-250g drone close to the roof and photograph each area.
- We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.
Getting ready for the survey
- Point out any leaks or damp patches
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work

Advice
FAQs for Darland
Do you cover smaller places like Darland?
Yes, we do. Our area covers London and the South East, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned beforehand.
Does a conservation area affect roof work in Darland?
For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. The answer matters most when a change of material is on the cards.
What’s in the report?
Written findings with photos, explaining the condition of the roof, any defects and our recommendations, with the most urgent first where relevant. The Standard Survey adds moisture detection and a structural check, and the Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies and structural analysis.
Do drone rules differ in central London?
In some places, only with permission. Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs have restricted areas that need NATS permission. Every address is checked first, and fall back on other viewpoints if we cannot fly.
Are you structural engineers?
No. Our survey is not a structural engineer’s report. We will recommend an engineer if we see signs that call for one.
How much does a drone roof survey cost in Darland?
Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package, confirmed before anything is booked.
What do I do with the report?
You receive the written report by email, with photographs and recommendations. You can use it to talk to a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent, whichever applies.
Honest limits
It helps to know what a survey won’t do before booking:
- Flights in strong wind or a downpour
- A structural engineer’s report
- Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
If you are not sure which survey you need, phone 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will give you a straight answer before you book. What a survey covers and doesn’t.
