Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Densole
Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. A drone takes close-up photos of those roofs from the air. You see slates, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters in detail, including slopes that cannot be seen from the street. Everything we find goes into a photo-illustrated written report. It’s also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. If we can’t fly, we tell you why. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, fragile roofs and chimney stacks, and people most often book us about lifted or split lead flashings and cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below.
In a small place like Densole, open ground can mean strong wind. High wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
The report records the roof as we found it on the day. It is useful right away, and a good reference for later, for example when you want to check whether anything has changed.

Tips from our surveys
A little preparation and a few simple habits help. Some pointers:
- Let us know what you want to see
- Let us know the exact address as you book
- Expect a little longer if permission is needed
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to go through what the drone showed. It’s a chance to ask about anything in the report.
Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, and early repairs keep water out.
Flying and imaging in Densole
Densole is within about 4 miles of the coast, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour. Many older homes in Kent have handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles held by pegs through two holes, and tile-hanging on their upper walls. Oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses are part of the county’s older buildings too. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Hawkinge Primary School, big roofs are where photos from the air and thermal images show the most at once. With Acrise Place about 1.2 miles north-west, the area around Densole has a long history. Close-up aerial shots and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.
Densole is about 3 miles north of Folkestone, in Kent. Surveys in Densole work the same way as everywhere we cover: a careful look at what can safely be seen, photos and a clear written report. We cover towns and villages across Kent. Canterbury is in our area too.
Drone roof surveys in CT18 are booked the same way as anywhere else. If you need a drone roof survey at a property on St John's Close, St John's Way and Canterbury Road or anywhere close by, we can help. Close by, we survey roofs in Hawkinge (1 mile south), Swingfield Minnis (1 mile north), Old Hawkinge (2 miles south-east), Arpinge (2 miles south-west) and Selsted (2 miles north). Larger places within reach include Ashford (13 miles west), Canterbury (11 miles north), Dover (6 miles east), Folkestone (3 miles south), Deal (12 miles north-east) and Hythe (5 miles south-west).

How the survey works
Before we start, tell us why you’ve booked: buying, a leak, storm damage, new work or just wanting to know where things stand. That way we can focus on what matters to you. The visit typically takes roughly 1–2 hours for a house, and longer for a large or complex roof. In a small place like Densole, access is normally the main thing to plan. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
- The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.
Before the survey
- Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
- Tell us about parking before the day
- Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors

Related advice
When to book a survey in Densole
Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. The drone covers the surface area by area. That gives a clearer picture of the roof as a whole.
It is worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
- Storm damage on steep or tall roofs
- Eroded pointing on a chimney stack
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
Take an older house close to St Luke's: tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
Questions to ask before you book
- What’s outside the scope of the survey
- What happens after the report arrives
- Whether VAT is added on top
- When you’ll get the report
Should I look at the roof myself first?
It helps to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when you book and it will help the survey.
A lot can be seen from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Why act early in Densole
With drone photos, everyone can see the same thing. You can show exactly where the problem is. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Densole, driving rain gets into any weakness, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
One thing that affects the price is the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. Size, height and access can affect the price too.

Honest limits
This isn’t a RICS building survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads

Common questions in Densole
How do I find out if my home in Densole is listed?
Start with Historic England’s list for listing and your council for conservation areas. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Do you cover smaller places like Densole?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We cover the whole of London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. We do not carry out asbestos surveys or testing. If we see materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement roof sheets or soffits on buildings from before 2000, we flag them.
When does the report arrive?
Each package has its own report time. Basic: within 48 hours. Standard: 24 to 48 hours. Premium: the same day. Mention any deadline when you book.
Will you go up on the roof?
Only when it’s safe. Some roofs are too steep or fragile to walk on safely. We use safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where applicable, and the report records anything we couldn’t see.
Does the drone show the underside of the roof?
No. A drone shows the outside surfaces of the roof in close detail, but not the loft or the underside. We look in the loft from inside where it’s safe.
What about my neighbours’ privacy?
We take care around neighbouring homes. The camera is pointed at your roof, not next door. It is worth telling neighbours about the flight.
