Devil's Den Drone Roof Survey
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach in Devil's Den. We’ve completed more than 5,000 surveys across London and the South East.
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
How we price drone roof surveys
Prices vary from roof to roof, and it comes down to:
- How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
- Building height and the viewpoints available
- How big the roof is
- Basic, Standard or Premium
One thing that affects the price is the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
Getting in touch
A little information up front helps. It helps to include:
- Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
- Where any leaks, stains or damp patches show inside
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- Anything about access we should know
If you are buying, it’s useful to book soon after your offer is accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. For any other survey, just call 07833 053749 or email us when you are ready.
Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Devil's Den
The weather decides whether a drone can fly. We don’t fly in strong wind or heavy rain, because control and safety come first. If the day turns out unsuitable, we will talk about another date or inspect what we can by other means. We check the forecast ahead of the visit and again on site. Calm, dry conditions give the sharpest close-up photos. Waiting for a better day is better than a rushed flight. We survey fragile roofs, chimney stacks and valleys and parapet gutters, and common reasons people get in touch are ridge pieces that have lifted and blistered or cracked flat roof coverings.
Some older homes in villages like Devil's Den are listed or in a conservation area. Neither a drone survey nor a thermal survey involves any work on the roof, so it’s a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.
Findings are set out part by part, from the coverings down to the gutters, each with a short note and a photo. It records what’s sound as well as what is not.

Drones, thermal imaging and Devil's Den roofs
The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.
Whatever the street in Devil's Den, a roof costs least to look after when faults are caught early.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
A survey is a close look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. The main limits are:
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
If in doubt, phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll suggest the right survey. The full list of what we check.
What we look at
- Large and complex roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Chimney stacks
- Tall and steep roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Fragile roofs
How the survey changes by roof type
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Outlets, edges and roof plant are common problem areas. We photograph them closely.
Chimney stacks
Chimney tops are hard to see from ground level. A drone gets close to the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings.
Why get it checked now?
A drone survey disturbs nothing on the roof. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so the survey doesn’t create new problems. Around Devil's Den, older homes often have old roof timbers, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it’s left.
A Basic Survey starts from £150, including VAT. The Standard Survey starts from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, both inc. VAT. You’ll know the price for your roof before booking.
Why choose Independent Roof Survey in Devil's Den
- Two decades and more of roof surveys
- Surveys seven days a week
- More than 5,000 surveys completed
- An independent view of the roof
Do you need a drone roof survey in Devil's Den?
Many roofs are never seen properly from ground level. Rear slopes, valleys and the tops of chimneys are hidden. Faults there can go unnoticed for years, which is why owners turn to a drone.
A survey can pick up problems such as:
- Flashings that have come away
- Chimney tops in poor condition
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
Historic houses such as Stoneacre, about 4 miles north, show how far back building around Devil's Den goes. Photos from the air and thermal images let an old roof be checked without anyone disturbing it.
Questions to ask before you book
- Is there a chance to talk the report through?
- When you will get the report
- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
- How they plan to inspect the roof safely
The survey, step by step
Where it is relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging, as far as the space allows. The whole visit typically takes roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Somewhere like Devil's Den needs a little journey planning: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect what can be seen safely, inside and out.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
- The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
- Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Make sure pets are kept safely away
- Dig out any old roof reports or invoices
Arrange a survey
A quick phone call is typically the easiest start: phone 07833 053749 or send us an email, and we’ll ask about the building and what you need. You’ll have a price before anything is arranged.

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We point out what can be seen, like sagging or deflection, but we are not structural engineers and do not carry out calculations. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.
Which days do you carry out surveys?
