About our drone roof survey in Dunsfold

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where it applies, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. We will tell you if a drone is not the right tool for your roof. You get a written report with the close-up photos from the flight. If you are worried about blistered or cracked flat roof coverings and cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on valleys and parapet gutters, large and complex roofs and fragile roofs alike.

In a small place like Dunsfold, open ground can mean strong wind. Strong wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

You receive the findings by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

Questions from Dunsfold

Do you cover smaller places like Dunsfold?

Yes. Dunsfold is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when you book.

Is my home in Dunsfold listed or in a conservation area?

We can’t confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.

Can a drone see inside my loft?

No. It shows what’s on the outside. Leaks, damp timbers and condensation often show first from inside, so we inspect the loft space as well where access is safe.

Is this a RICS survey?

No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. If you need a full building survey, you will need a RICS survey as well.

How much does a drone roof survey cost in Dunsfold?

Our price is from £400, including VAT. What you pay for your roof depends on its size, height, access and the package.

Are you structural engineers?

No. Visible signs such as deflection or sagging are recorded, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. If one is needed, the report says so.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

Visits run seven days a week in the daytime, which suits people who work during the week. Just say which days work for you.

Before and after the survey

Most of what helps is simple and safe from ground level. Our suggestions:

  • Tell us about any leaks or concerns
  • Book early if you’re near an airport
  • Keep dogs indoors during the visit
  • Tell next door if the drone will be near their property

The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to talk through the photos and findings. You can ask about anything that is not clear.

Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Comparing surveys shows what is wearing, so small faults are dealt with early.

What happens on the day

The visit has one job: to see as much of the roof as can safely be seen and record it clearly. Everything we note and photograph goes into the written report. It usually takes roughly 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Cottages and farmhouses around Dunsfold often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can safely be seen.

  1. First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
  2. We arrange any permission that is needed before we fly.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Point out any leaks or damp patches
  • Let us know about parking before the day
  • Leave a clear route to the loft

How to book

If you are buying, it’s useful to book soon after your offer is accepted, so you have the findings in time to act on them before you exchange. For any other survey, just phone 07833 053749 or send us an email when you are ready.

Advice

What you can safely check yourself

You can learn a lot from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.

Fresh stains on ceilings or walls after rain are worth noting. Take a photo and write down when you saw it.

Roof by roof

Chimney stacks

The top of a stack is typically out of view. A drone gets close to the pots, flaunching, pointing and flashings.

Large commercial roofs

Large commercial roofs cover a lot of ground. The drone covers the roof area by area.

Drone roof surveys in Dunsfold: local notes

We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. Older buildings may be listed or sit in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. In either case, a change of roofing material may need consent.

Whatever the street in Dunsfold, a roof costs least to look after when faults are caught early. For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Mary and All Saints, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.

Why act early in Dunsfold

A drone record gives you a baseline. Comparing them with later photos shows what has changed. It helps when you plan ahead. In a small place like Dunsfold, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Prices start from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on how big and how high the roof is, access and which survey you book.
