About our drone roof survey in Eythorne
Drones need reasonable weather. Strong wind or a downpour rules out a flight, because control and safety come first. If the weather turns, we’ll agree another day. The forecast is checked ahead of the visit and again on the day. Calm, dry conditions give the sharpest close-up photos. A short delay is better than a rushed flight. We survey flat roofs on upper floors, tall and steep roofs and chimney stacks, and common reasons people get in touch are vegetation in valleys and gutters and eroded pointing on a chimney stack.
In a small place like Eythorne, open ground can mean strong wind. High wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
If any part of the roof couldn’t be seen safely, we say so in the report. That way, it is clear what was covered and what wasn’t, and what we’d suggest next.

How it works
We look at the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there is safe access, from inside the roof space too. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement, as far as the space allows. All in, the survey normally takes an hour or two for most houses; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. In a hamlet or village like Eythorne, a postcode does not always lead to the right gate, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. After that, the survey runs as it would anywhere.
- We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
- Any flight restriction at the address is looked at, with permission requested if required.
- Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are looked at.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with whoever owns or manages the building
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
- Jot down any questions you want answered

Should I look at the roof myself first?
You can learn a lot from ground level. With binoculars, look for slipped or missing slates and tiles, gaps along the ridge and leaning chimneys. Never climb onto the roof to look.
Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry, as it helps us focus the survey.

What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
Prices vary from roof to roof, and it comes down to:
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- Features like valleys, chimneys, dormers and parapets
- Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
A Basic Survey starts from £150, including VAT. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400. You’ll know the price for your roof before booking.
Booking your survey
There’s no need for technical words. Just tell us:
- Photos of the roof, taken safely from the ground or a window
- Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
- The kind of building and roof involved
- Dates you’re working to, such as exchange
Every survey is priced before it’s booked, so you know where you stand. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. For a price for your roof, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Leave it or get it looked at?
On a tall building, problems are often found only when water comes in. By then, timbers, ceilings and insulation may be wet. A drone survey finds them sooner. In a place like Eythorne, a barn or garage roof left to fail puts whatever is inside at risk. A quick look before winter can save a lot.
Simple, low roofs take less time to survey than tall or complicated ones, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.

Questions from Eythorne
Is Eythorne within the area you cover?
Yes, we do. We cover the whole of London and South East England, from towns to the smallest villages. Longer journeys are simply planned in advance.
Are there drone restrictions around Eythorne?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.
Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?
Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with the freeholder or managing agent. Tell us about it as you book and we’ll plan the survey around it.
How do I book a survey in Eythorne?
Just phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email. We will ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date, weekday or weekend.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Visits run seven days a week in the daytime, which suits people who work during the week. Let us know your preferred days when you book.
How experienced are you?
Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys, across London and South East England.
Do I need to be at home?
If the survey includes the loft or the inside of the building, someone needs to let us in. We’ll talk about access as you book.
Drone roof surveys in Eythorne: local notes
We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. Handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles hung on pegs through two holes, are typical of older Kent buildings. The county’s older buildings also include oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.
With Goodnestone Park about 3.6 miles north-west, the area around Eythorne has a long history. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from above or with a thermal imager does not touch the roof itself. Take a building like Eythorne Elvington Community Primary School: big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once.
Eythorne is about 4 miles north of Dover, in Kent. We carry out drone roof surveys in Eythorne for houses, flats, blocks and commercial buildings, with a written report and photographs every time. Eythorne is one of the towns and villages in Kent where we work for drone roof surveys. We also survey roofs in Canterbury.
Surveys in CT15 are booked the same way as anywhere else. That includes homes and businesses on The Street, Sandwich Road and New Road and the roads around them. We also work in nearby towns like Canterbury (10 miles north-west), Margate (14 miles north), Dover (4 miles south), Folkestone (9 miles south-west), Ramsgate (11 miles north-east) and Broadstairs (13 miles north-east).

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Eythorne
The top of a stack is the most exposed part of many roofs. Cracked flaunching, loose pots and eroded pointing are often invisible from below. Close-up drone photos show their condition.
It is worth booking a survey if you’ve seen:
- Slates or tiles shifted by high winds
- Plant growth and moss on the roof
- Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
- Lead work pulling away at abutments
Take an older house close to Church of St Peter and St Paul: steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that is where a view by drone or thermal camera helps.
Before booking any roof surveyor
- Their insurance cover
- How much experience they have with roofs like yours
- Which limits apply to the survey
- If they fly a drone, whether they hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
