Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Friday Street
Some roofs are hard or unsafe to reach. Our drone roof survey gets a camera close to them without anyone climbing. It shows coverings, ridges, chimneys, valleys and gutters clearly, including slopes that can’t be seen from the street. The photos go into a written report. It’s also a good option where walking on the roof could break slates or tiles. Where a flight is not possible, we explain why. We are often asked to look into debris building up in hidden gutters and cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below, across tall and steep roofs, fragile roofs and large and complex roofs.
In a small place like Friday Street, open ground can mean strong wind. High wind or heavy rain stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.
You receive the findings by email, easy to pass on to a roofer, an agent or an insurer. Turnaround is within 48 hours for Basic, 24–48 hours for Standard and same day for Premium.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Friday Street?
Steep and tall roofs are hard to inspect safely. Three-storey houses, blocks of flats and tall commercial buildings are common examples. We fly from the ground and bring the camera close to the roof.
Problems we come across often include:
- Debris building up in hidden gutters
- Blistered or cracked flat roof coverings
- Loose ridge and hip tiles
- Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St James, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement.
Questions to ask before booking
- Is there a chance to talk the report through?
- What the survey will not cover
- When you’ll get the report
- Is VAT included in the price?
What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover
A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. Its limits include:
- A structural engineer’s report
- Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
- Anything inside the loft or under the coverings
If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer. What our survey covers.

Questions from Friday Street
Will you come out to Friday Street?
Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. We survey roofs across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when you book.
Are there drone restrictions around Friday Street?
The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Is it the same as a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and our survey covers the roof rather than the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. We’re experienced roof surveyors, and visible signs like sagging are noted, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. The report will say if you need an engineer.
Can you survey at the weekend?
Surveys run on any day of the week. To arrange a date, phone 07833 053749 or drop us an email.
Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?
We hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance.
Do you look in the loft space?
If there’s a loft and safe access to it, yes. The roof space can show things the outside can’t, like damp timbers, staining or daylight.
How it works
Before we start, tell us why you’ve booked: a purchase, a leak, a storm, new work or simply peace of mind. That way we can focus on what matters to you. Most visits take roughly 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. Older roofs in small places like Friday Street can have low, tight loft spaces, so it’s useful to know whether there’s a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.
- You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
- Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- We fly the drone close to the roof to photograph it in detail, always in sight.
- We email a written report with the photographs and our recommendations.
Preparing for the visit
- Make sure the loft hatch can be reached
- Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
- If you are buying, let the agent know when we are coming

Advice
What affects the cost of drone roof surveys
The price reflects the time and kit the roof needs. The main factors are:
- Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
- The size of the roof
Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. You will know the figure before booking.
Getting in touch
If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:
- What made you get in touch
- Any marks or damp showing indoors
- Anything about access we should know
- What kind of property and roof it is

Flying and imaging in Friday Street
The drone we use is under 250g, flown by a CAA-registered operator with a Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. In Surrey, older roofs are often handmade clay tile, with tile-hanging on many upper walls. Some old buildings in Surrey and Sussex have Horsham stone slab roofs. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.
For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Belmont Prep School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit. With Polesden Lacey about 4.2 miles north, the area around Friday Street has a long history. For older roofs nearby, a look from above or with a thermal imager is a hands-off way to check condition.

Why it’s worth a survey now in Friday Street
Photographing a roof from the air does not touch it. Nothing is cracked or dislodged by footsteps, so you see the roof exactly as it is. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Friday Street, driving rain gets into any weakness, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.
There are three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all including VAT. What your roof costs depends on its size, access and what you want to find out.
