About our drone roof survey in Hareplain

Prices start from £400, including VAT. A drone inspection, where applicable, is also part of our Premium Survey, along with structural analysis, a same-day report and an in-person consultation. There is a 12-month follow-up as well. If a drone won’t help on your roof, we will say so. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photos. We survey fragile roofs, large and complex roofs and chimney stacks, and common reasons people get in touch are hidden gutters full of leaves and cracked mortar along the ridge.

In a village or hamlet like Hareplain, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from ground level. Weather and airspace are checked before the visit, and the journey is planned in advance. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.

You can share the report with anyone who needs it: your solicitor, the seller, your insurer, a roofer or the building’s managing agent, whichever applies.

The survey, step by step

We look at the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there is safe access, from inside the roof space too. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging. All in, the survey normally takes about 1–2 hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Somewhere as small as Hareplain, access is often the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. We start with the address and what you’d like checked.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. The drone photographs the roof closely, kept in sight throughout.
  5. You receive a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Point out any leaks or damp patches
  • Gather any invoices or paperwork from past roof work

Advice

Why act early in Hareplain

Photos from a drone survey show how the roof looks today. Comparing them with later photos shows what has changed. It helps when you plan ahead. Where a roof is exposed, as many are in small places like Hareplain, driving rain gets into any weakness, and damp in older walls is slow to dry out.

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. What you pay depends on how big and how high the roof is, how it can be seen safely and which survey you book.

What a drone roof survey doesn’t cover

Some things cannot be seen without opening up the roof, and that sets some limits:

  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
  • Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
  • A structural engineer’s report

If you’re not sure which survey you need, call 07833 053749 or email us and we will give you a straight answer before you book. What our survey covers.

Different roofs, different checks

Chimney stacks

Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. Each defect is photographed for the report.

Large commercial roofs

Large commercial roofs cover a lot of ground. The drone covers the roof area by area, so nothing is skipped.

Common questions in Hareplain

How do I find out if my home in Hareplain is listed?

For listing, use Historic England’s list; for conservation areas, ask the council. It matters most if you are planning to re-roof in a different material.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Hareplain?

It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Headcorn Aerodrome is about 3 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Can you survey a shared roof?

Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with whoever owns or manages the building. Mention it when you get in touch and we’ll explain what’s needed.

What happens after the survey?

We email you the written report with photos and recommendations. It is yours to share with a seller, insurer, roofer or managing agent, whichever applies.

How do I book a survey in Hareplain?

The quickest way is to call 07833 053749 or email us. Tell us the address and a little about the roof, and we’ll point you to the right survey. We survey on weekdays and at weekends.

Will I get photos?

Yes. Photos are taken throughout the survey, and the report uses them to show each finding alongside our recommendations.

Can you survey in bad weather?

Some surveys depend on the weather more than others. Drone flights need calm, dry weather, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. If the conditions are not right, we will talk to you about another date.

Tips that help

A few practical points come up again and again on our surveys. They apply to most roofs:

  • Expect us to rearrange if it is too windy or wet
  • Check the loft can be reached
  • Clear a spot on the drive or lawn
  • Allow time for permission if you are in a flight restriction zone

There is a follow-up after 12 months with the Premium Survey. It helps you see how the roof has changed over the year, and whether work has done its job.

Every so often, look in the roof space with a torch, keeping to boarded areas. The underside often shows problems before the outside does. Photograph anything new.

Checking the roof from ground level

A DIY look is useful, but it isn’t a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are often out of sight.

Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from the ground and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when you book and it will help the survey.
