Drone roof surveys in Standen

What a survey costs

When we price a survey, we consider:

  • Chimneys, valleys, parapets and other details
  • Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • The size of the roof

We offer three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you’d like to know.

Helping us price your survey

The more you tell us, the easier it is to price the survey. When you get in touch, it helps to mention:

  • Whether there’s a loft hatch, a shared roof or tricky access
  • The kind of building and roof involved
  • The property’s address and postcode
  • What’s prompted the survey

For a price for drone roof surveys in Standen, ring 07833 053749 or email us. The address, the type of property and what you’d like to know help us price the survey accurately.

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Standen

We carry out drone roof surveys in Standen and across London and South East England, subject to airspace checks and the weather. We fly on any day of the week. Every address is checked for airspace restrictions first. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To check whether your roof suits a drone survey, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email with the address. Common reasons to book are standing water on a flat roof and gaps where slates or tiles have gone, on large and complex roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and valleys and parapet gutters.

Villages like Standen often stand in open country, where wind can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Drone roof surveys in Standen: local notes

Headcorn Aerodrome is about 2 miles away, so we check the Drone Safety Map for restrictions before any flight. Older buildings may be listed or sit in a conservation area. Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the council can say whether a street is in a conservation area. Re-roofing in different materials may need permission there.

For properties in and around Standen, we look at whatever is safely visible and explain what we find. Around Standen, as everywhere, small roof faults are simplest to sort before they let water in.

Can I check my roof myself?

Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Send it with your enquiry and it will help the survey.

The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Slates, tiles, flat roofs and rooflights can give way, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.

How the survey works

We look at the roof from outside and, where it is relevant and there’s safe access, from inside the loft space too. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging, as far as the space allows. The whole visit usually takes an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a small place like Standen, access is typically the main thing to plan. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Weekday and weekend visits are available.

  1. First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
  3. The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
  4. We also look inside the roof space where it’s safe.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Tell us about parking before the day
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared
  • Dig out any old roof reports or invoices

FAQs for Standen

Is drone flying allowed in Standen?

Typically it comes down to two things: the airspace at the address and the weather. Standen is about 2 miles from Headcorn Aerodrome, so the Drone Safety Map is checked for restrictions around it before we fly. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.

Will you come out to Standen?

Yes, Standen is on our map. Villages and rural addresses get the same survey as a town house, with the route planned beforehand.

What will the report tell me?

It works through the roof part by part, in writing and with photos, and ends with what we recommend. The most urgent items are made clear.

Do you carry professional indemnity insurance?

We’re covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance, for every survey we carry out.

How experienced are you?

Over 20 years and more than 5,000 surveys.

What if it rains on the day?

It can, depending on the survey. Drone flights need calm, dry weather, and thermal imaging works best with a dry roof, little wind and a sunny day beforehand. If the conditions aren’t right, we will talk to you about another date.

Do you take photos of the roof?

Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.

What happens if roof problems are left?

Photos from a drone survey show how the roof looks today. Next time, you can compare and see what has moved or worn. It is useful for planning maintenance over the years. Matching old materials, such as handmade tiles or stone slates, can take time to source. That’s one more reason to find defects before they become urgent.

A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. We’ll give you the figure before anything is booked.

What we look for on each type of roof

Valleys and parapet gutters

Some older terraces have a butterfly roof with a valley in the middle. You cannot see it from the street at all, but a drone shows it clearly.

Ridges and hips

The ridge takes wind from both sides. A drone shows cracked mortar and loose ridge tiles.
