Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Jealott's Hill

From the air, the outer surfaces are clear, but it can’t see under the coverings or into the loft. Where there is safe access, we look in the loft space too, because the underside tells its own story. Together, the two give a fuller picture. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. If there is no safe loft access, the report says so. If you’ve noticed flat roofs on upper floors that hold water and vegetation in valleys and gutters, a survey will tell you what’s going on.

In a small place like Jealott's Hill, open ground can mean strong wind. Strong wind or a downpour stops a small drone flying, and calm conditions also suit thermal imaging best. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.

With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Before and after the survey

Nothing here needs a ladder. A few suggestions:

  • Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
  • Mention anything you’ve noticed on the roof
  • Let us know the exact address when booking
  • Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared

The Premium Survey includes an in-person consultation to go through what the drone showed. You can ask about anything that is not clear.

Keep gutters, valleys and outlets clear, particularly in autumn. On tall buildings, use a professional with the right access equipment. Blocked hidden gutters cause many leaks.

How we price drone roof surveys

We confirm the price for the job before booking. This is what makes a difference:

  • How complicated the roof is, with its valleys, chimneys and parapets
  • Extensions, dormers and garages with roofs of their own
  • The size of the roof
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone

There are three survey packages: the Basic Survey from £150, the Standard Survey from £250 and the Premium Survey from £400, all inc. VAT. The price for your roof depends on its size, access and what you’d like to know.

What to let us know when you get in touch

What helps most when you contact us:

  • Anything about access we should know
  • Pictures from the garden or a window, if you have them
  • The type of building and roof, like pitched or flat
  • Where the property is, with the postcode

To book a survey, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and let us know the address and what’s prompted the survey. You will know the price before anything is booked.

What happens if roof problems are left?

It’s hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. You get photographs of every part we can see, with recommendations prioritised by urgency where relevant. You can tackle the urgent items first. Outbuildings and barns around Jealott's Hill are easy to forget, but a failed roof there can spoil what’s stored inside. A quick look before winter can save a lot.

Larger roofs, taller buildings and commercial roofs take longer, so the price reflects that. The price is confirmed before booking.

What you get with us

  • Thermal imaging and drones used where they help
  • Surveys seven days a week
  • 98% customer satisfaction
  • 20+ years’ experience

Questions from Jealott's Hill

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Jealott's Hill?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour.

Do you cover smaller places like Jealott's Hill?

Yes. Jealott's Hill is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We work right across London and the South East. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there as you book.

Will you go up on the roof?

Only when it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where applicable cover most of what’s needed, and the report notes anything we couldn’t see.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. We note visible signs such as sagging or deflection, but we do not carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. If we think you need an engineer, the report says so.

What happens next?

You will get the report by email, with photographs and clear recommendations. With Standard there’s a follow-up consultation; with Premium, an in-person consultation.

Do you survey roofs on blocks of flats?

Yes. Shared roofs just need a little more planning, with the freeholder or managing agent. Tell us about it when you book and we will explain what’s needed.

Will I get photos?

Yes. Photographs are taken throughout the survey, and the report uses them to show each finding.

Different roofs, different checks

Large commercial roofs

Older cement sheet roofs may contain asbestos. We don’t test for it, but we flag it and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.

Valleys and parapet gutters

Hidden gutters and valleys sit out of sight. From above, we can see the linings, the joints and any debris.

Flying and imaging in Jealott's Hill

We fly a sub-250g drone and are a CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID). In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight. St Leonard's Hill, about 4.5 miles east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Jealott's Hill. Period homes nearby can have lead valleys, tall chimneys and a patchwork of past repairs, and any change of roofing material on a listed home needs checking with the council first.

For an older house near a landmark such as Church of St Michael and All Angels, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for example near The Lexicon, thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof. Take a building like Garth Hill College: a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Jealott's Hill is about 3 miles north of Bracknell, in Bracknell Forest. Whether the building in Jealott's Hill is a house, a flat or a commercial unit, we can survey the roof. Jealott's Hill is one of the places in Bracknell Forest we cover. There’s also a page for Reading.

When you need someone else

Our findings are based on what we can see safely on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:

  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
  • Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
  • Photos in conditions too poor to fly

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we will tell you. What a survey covers and does not.

What we check

  • Large and complex roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

What we do, step by step

Time on site depends on the size and shape of the roof, but as a rough guide the survey takes roughly 1–2 hours on an ordinary house, or half a day or so for a commercial building. You’re welcome to ask questions while we’re there. Older roofs in small places like Jealott's Hill can have low, tight loft spaces, so it helps to know whether there is a loft hatch and how easy it is to reach. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.

  1. We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
  2. We arrange any permission that’s needed before we fly.
  3. Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
  4. The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
  5. You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Find any records of previous roof work
  • Agree roof access with the managing agent if it’s shared
  • Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at
