What we do, step by step

We do not take risks to get a closer look. Everything that can safely be seen is inspected, and anything we can’t see is noted in the report. The survey normally takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. In a smaller place like Loudwater, as anywhere, the forecast plays a part: the parts that need calm, dry weather are planned around it.

  1. You give us the address so we can check the airspace.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. We assess the wind, the weather and the surroundings before take-off.
  4. The drone captures close-up photos of the coverings, chimneys, valleys and gutters.
  5. Your report arrives by email, with close-up photos and recommendations.

Before we arrive

  • Tell us about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of
  • Keep pets in another room
  • Check we can get to the back of the property

Advice

About our drone roof survey in Loudwater

We carry out drone roof surveys in Loudwater and across London and the South East, where the airspace and the weather allow. We fly seven days a week. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. You get a written report with close-up photos and recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, call 07833 053749 or send us an email. If you’ve noticed storm damage on steep or tall roofs and outlets choked with leaves and silt, a survey will tell you what’s going on, on large and complex roofs, flat roofs on upper floors and fragile roofs alike.

Places like Loudwater can be near small airfields or other airspace restrictions, so every drone flight starts with a check of the Drone Safety Map. Exposed sites can be windy, and a small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind, while thermal imaging also works best with little wind. Each flight is planned with neighbours’ privacy in mind, as well as the airspace and the wind.

With the Standard Survey, you also get moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey goes further, with thermal imaging, drone inspection where it applies, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

Can I check my roof myself?

You can learn a lot from the ground. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Never climb onto the roof to look.

It helps to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Send it with your enquiry, as it helps us focus the survey.

Flying and imaging in Loudwater

Thatch survives on some older buildings in Buckinghamshire’s villages. Across the South East, older homes tend to have slate or clay tiles, and many later ones concrete tiles. Many roofs like these can’t be judged properly from the pavement, and that is where a view from above or a thermal image earns its place. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons.

The streets around a church such as Church of St Peter are often among the oldest in a place, and if your house is among the older ones nearby, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where aerial photos and thermal images help. If you look after a building like Loudwater Combined School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Honest limits

To be straight with you, a roof survey has limits:

  • Neighbouring roofs the owner hasn’t asked us to survey
  • Flights in a restricted zone without permission
  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll tell you. What our survey covers.

What this survey covers

  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Fragile roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Large and complex roofs

Roof by roof

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Flat roof coverings wear out at different rates. We record the signs of age we can see.

Large commercial roofs

Large commercial roofs cover a lot of ground. The drone covers the roof area by area.

For landlords and managing agents

We also survey roofs for businesses and commercial landlords, from shops and offices to industrial units. Bigger roofs take more time, and they’re priced for the size.

A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Loudwater

Is my home in Loudwater listed or in a conservation area?

Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. A change of roofing material may need consent in either case, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Loudwater?

The answer turns on the exact location and the conditions on the day. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in high wind or heavy rain.

How soon will I get the report?

Basic reports arrive within 48 hours, Standard reports in 24–48 hours and Premium reports on the same day. Each one is emailed, ready to forward.

Will you go up on the roof?

Only when it is safe. Safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where applicable cover most of what’s needed.

How long will you be at the property?

Expect it to take about one to two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. The written report follows by email, on the timescale of your package.

Do you survey on Saturdays and Sundays?

We survey on any day from Monday to Sunday, during the day, which suits people who work during the week. Just say which days work for you.

Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?

No. Our report may flag materials that could contain asbestos, but only a specialist asbestos surveyor can confirm it. Buildings built or refurbished before 2000 may contain it.

Common roof problems in Loudwater

Parapet gutters, box gutters and central valleys sit out of sight. Debris collects where nobody looks, until water overflows inside. A drone shows them clearly from above.

Things that often lead to a survey include:

  • Flashings that have come away
  • Blocked valleys and parapet gutters
  • Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
  • Ridge and hip pieces working loose

For businesses in and around places such as Eden, thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof.

What to check before booking

  • Whether VAT is in the quoted price
  • What’s outside the scope of the survey
