Drone roof surveys in Lower Kingswood: local notes
Older houses across Surrey frequently have handmade clay tiles, and many have tile-hanging. Some old buildings in Surrey and Sussex have Horsham stone slab roofs. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons.
If you live in an older home near Church of Jesus Christ and the Wisdom of God, tall stacks and steep slopes are easier to judge with close-up aerial photos than from the pavement. For site and facilities teams at buildings like Kingswood Primary School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it. If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for example near The Belfry, thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof.

How a drone roof survey works in Lower Kingswood
Before any flight, we check the airspace. Flight restriction zones around airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick and London City need permission from the airport or air traffic control. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If permission isn’t given, we inspect by other means and tell you. Prisons have their own drone restriction zones too. If you’ve noticed plant growth and moss on the roof and chimney tops in poor condition, we can find out what’s behind it.
Somewhere as small as Lower Kingswood, older roofs are frequently steep and partly hidden by trees or outbuildings. A drone and a thermal camera each give a view you cannot get from the ground. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first. Steep slopes and tall chimney stacks are where a close-up view adds the most.
The written findings come by email, ready to forward to whoever needs them. Basic reports come within 48 hours, Standard within 24–48 hours and Premium on the day.

What else we do in Lower Kingswood
Landlords, agents and block managers in Lower Kingswood
Roof problems in a rented home affect tenants as well as the building. A survey helps you spot issues early and plan the work.
Buyers’ agents can book surveys on behalf of their clients. Reports are emailed, so they’re easy to pass on, photos included.
Prices for drone roof surveys in Lower Kingswood
All our prices include VAT. What changes the price is:
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- The type of building, from a house to a block or an office
- Building height and the viewpoints available
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
A small, low roof with good viewpoints takes less time than a tall, complicated one, and the package matters as well. The price is always agreed first.
Helping us price your survey
Getting the details right at the start saves time. It’s useful to include:
- How the loft is reached, if there is one
- Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window
- What made you get in touch
- Where the property is, with the postcode
To get a price for drone roof surveys in Lower Kingswood, call 07833 053749 or email us. The address, the type of property and what you want to find out help us price the survey accurately.
Should I look at the roof myself first?
Your own check is a good start, but it is not a survey. From the ground, valleys, flashings and the backs of chimneys are frequently out of sight.
The one thing to avoid is getting up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery. That’s where a survey comes in, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.
What happens on the day
We photograph the roof as we go, so you can see in the report what we found and where. We take close-ups from wherever is safe. A typical visit takes an hour or two at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Rural addresses near Lower Kingswood can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions, or a note of a nearby landmark, help us arrive on time. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- We also look inside the loft space where it’s safe.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Before we arrive
- Clear the way to the loft hatch
- Jot down any questions you want answered
- For a flat or shared roof, check access with the freeholder or managing agent

Advice
Tips from our surveys
Most of what helps is simple and safe from ground level. Our suggestions:
- Share the postcode so we can check for restrictions
- A word with neighbours beforehand helps
- Allow for a change of day in poor weather
- Let us know what you want to see
Keep the photos with your property records. They give you something to compare against later.
After a storm, check from the garden and the street. Debris in the garden is a sign to act on. A drone survey can show what has shifted.
FAQs for Lower Kingswood
Will you come out to Lower Kingswood?
Yes, Lower Kingswood is on our map. A small place gets exactly the same survey as a big one.
Is drone flying allowed in Lower Kingswood?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Every flight is checked against the Drone Safety Map first, including zones around airports and prisons. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes. Photographs are part of every report, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.
Do you climb onto every roof?
Only if it’s safe. We look at everything that can be seen safely: from the ground, from windows, from inside the roof space, from the roof where it is safe and by drone where applicable. Anything we cannot see is noted in the report.
What does the report include?
It sets out what we found, why it matters and what we recommend, backed by photographs. Anything we couldn’t see safely is noted too.
Can you give me structural calculations?
No. Visible signs like deflection or sagging are recorded, but calculations and an engineer’s opinion are outside what we do. If one is needed, the report says so.
What happens next?
You’ll receive the report by email, and what you do next is up to you: use it with a seller, an insurer, a roofer or a managing agent.
When you need someone else
A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it can’t do everything. The main limits are:
- A flight where airspace permission is refused
- Structural calculations (that is a structural engineer’s job)
- What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we’ll tell you. The full list of what we check.
