Drone roof surveys in Mead End

Drone roof survey in Mead End

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. It stays within sight for the whole flight, and well below the 120-metre height limit. Each flight is planned with the site and its surroundings in mind. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. We never fly where it isn’t safe. We survey chimney stacks, fragile roofs and tall and steep roofs, and common reasons people get in touch are damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below and lifted or split lead flashings.

Some older homes in villages like Mead End are listed or in a conservation area. A look from above or with a thermal imager does not touch the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.

We write the report in plain English, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Photographs show what each point refers to, with the urgent items made clear.

Roof by roof

Chimney stacks

From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. Each defect is photographed for the report.

Steep slate and tile slopes

Steep slopes are hard to inspect safely on foot. From the air, every course of slates or tiles can be seen.

What happens on the day

Where it is relevant and can be reached safely, the loft space is checked as well as the outside. Inside, we look for staining, damp, gaps and signs of movement. All in, the survey typically takes an hour or two for most houses, and longer for a large or complex roof. Older roofs in small places like Mead End can have low, tight loft spaces, so let us know about the loft hatch and any ladder. Only areas that can be reached safely are inspected.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. We agree a date, including weekends, subject to the weather.
  3. Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
  4. Where there’s safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. You get photos, findings and clear recommendations.

How to prepare

Drone roof surveys in Mead End: local notes

Mead End lies within about 4 miles of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. In the open category, flights stay below 120 m (400 ft) and within sight.

For an older house near a landmark such as St Andrew, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. Highcliffe Castle, about 4.8 miles south-west, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Mead End. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings. If you look after a building like Tiptoe Primary School, a drone or thermal camera can show a large roof in a single visit.

Mead End is about 4 miles north-west of Lymington, in Hampshire. We visit Mead End as part of our work across Hampshire, for houses, flats and commercial buildings. Our Hampshire coverage includes Mead End and the places around it. Southampton is in our area too.

We work across the SO41 postcode area for drone roof surveys. Whether your property is on Marley Mount and Boundway or a nearby road, we can help. Close by, we survey roofs in Tiptoe (1 mile south), Sway (1 mile east), Bashley (1 mile south-west), Ashley (2 miles south) and Wootton (2 miles west). Within a short drive, we also cover Totton (11 miles north-east), Lymington (4 miles south-east), Hythe (11 miles north-east), Ringwood (8 miles north-west), Barton on Sea (3 miles south-west) and Dibden Purlieu (11 miles north-east).

What affects the price in Mead End

Our packages start from £150, including VAT. The price for your roof depends on:

One thing that affects the price is the package: Basic from £150, Standard from £250 or Premium from £400, all including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Helping us price your survey

You don’t need to know any roofing terms. It’s enough to tell us:

  • Any photos you have, taken from ground level or a window

What a drone roof survey does not cover

Every survey has limits, and it is better to know them up front. Keep these in mind:

  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • Close-up photos of next door’s property
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
