Drone roof surveys for Paddock homes and businesses

Why get it checked now?

Close-up photos make conversations with roofers clearer. You can show exactly where the problem is, which helps when you ask for quotes. In a small place like Paddock, homes can be exposed to wind and rain, which finds any gap, and older walls, once damp, take a long time to dry.

The Premium Survey includes thermal imaging and drone inspection where applicable, from £400 including VAT. We can help you choose the package that fits what you need to know.

What you get with us

  • Surveys seven days a week
  • CAA-registered drone operator (Flyer ID and Operator ID)

Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Paddock

Prices start from £400, including VAT. The Premium Survey includes a drone inspection where applicable, with a same-day report, structural analysis and an in-person consultation. It also includes a follow-up after 12 months. If a drone will not help on your roof, we’ll say so. Every drone survey comes with a written report and close-up photographs. Typical surveys look at chimney tops in poor condition and slates or tiles shifted by high winds, on fragile roofs, large and complex roofs and flat roofs on upper floors.

Some older homes in villages like Paddock are listed or in a conservation area. A look by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.

We keep jargon out of it: where something needs attention, it says so plainly, and where it can wait, that is said too.

FAQs for Paddock

Can you fly a drone over a roof in Paddock?

That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. The flight also waits for calm, dry weather.

Is my home in Paddock listed or in a conservation area?

Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Will I get photos?

Yes, plenty. Pictures sit next to the findings they show, so you can see what we mean.

Can you survey in bad weather?

Light rain is usually fine; heavy rain and wind are different. Strong wind or heavy rain can make access unsafe and ground a drone, and we’d agree another day.

How soon will I get the report?

That depends on the survey you book: Basic within 48 hours, Standard in 24–48 hours and Premium the same day. The report is emailed to you.

How long does the survey take?

It normally takes an hour or two at most homes, while a commercial roof takes nearer three to four hours. The written report follows by email.

What does a roof survey cost?

Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before booking, based on the roof’s size, access and package. For a price, phone 07833 053749 or email us.

What happens on the day

We don’t take risks to get a closer look. We inspect whatever is safely visible, and if part of the roof cannot be seen, the report says so. Most visits take about one to two hours for a house, and more on a big or complicated roof. Cottages and farmhouses around Paddock often have roofs at several levels, with lean-tos and outbuildings attached. Each part is looked at from wherever it can be seen safely.

  1. We start by making sure a drone flight makes sense for the roof.
  2. A visit is booked for a weekday, Saturday or Sunday, weather permitting.
  3. The roof is photographed from the air, with the camera kept on your property.
  4. If the loft can be reached safely, it is checked too.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Move anything stored under the loft hatch
  • Keep pets out of the way during the survey

What we look for on each type of roof

Large commercial roofs

Older cement sheet roofs may contain asbestos. We flag it in the report and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor.

Chimney stacks

Leaning stacks and loose pots are easier to judge from above. Each defect is photographed for the report.

What a drone roof survey does not cover

We only report whatever is safely visible on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:

  • A flight where airspace permission is refused
  • A flight on a day when the weather isn’t safe
  • A structural engineer’s report

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can call 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you. What our survey covers.

What we check

  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Fragile roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Chimney stacks
  • Flat roofs on upper floors

Drones, thermal imaging and Paddock roofs

Our drone weighs under 250g, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. Flights in the open category stay under 120 m (400 ft), with the drone kept in sight. Handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles hung on pegs through two holes, are typical of older Kent buildings. The county’s older buildings also include oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.

If you look after a building such as Challock Primary School, big roofs are where aerial photos and thermal images show the most at once. If you live in an older home near Church of St Cosmas and St Damian, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from the ground, and that is where a view from the air or with a thermal camera helps.

Do you need a drone roof survey in Paddock?

Height and steep pitches make close inspection risky. Three-storey houses, blocks of flats and tall commercial buildings are common examples. A drone gets close-up views from a safe position on the ground.

Look out for signs like these:

  • Worn lead at chimneys and walls
  • Gaps where slates or tiles have gone
  • Flat roofs on upper floors that hold water
  • Eroded pointing on a chimney stack

Historic houses like Belmont House and Gardens, about 3.8 miles north, show how far back building around Paddock goes. A drone or thermal survey doesn’t involve any work on the roof, which suits older buildings.

Questions to ask before you book

  • How they plan to inspect the roof safely
  • Whether they hold professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • Their report turnaround times
  • Their drone registration, if they fly one

What a roof survey includes

How we price drone roof surveys

What a survey costs depends on the time and equipment it needs. That comes down to:

  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see
  • How big the roof is
  • The use of thermal imaging or a drone
  • Which survey package you book

To find out what your survey will cost, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and tell us about the roof. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Helping us price your survey

When you call or email, these details help:

  • The kind of building and roof involved
  • Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
  • Pictures of the roof from a safe spot, if you have them
  • How the loft is reached, if there is one

Buyers should book once an offer has been accepted, so there’s time to use the report before exchange. For any other survey, just ring 07833 053749 or send us an email when you are ready.
