Drone roof surveys in Quendon

About our drone roof survey in Quendon

Drone roof surveys are available in Quendon and throughout London and the South East, subject to airspace checks and the weather. Flights take place on weekdays and at weekends. We check the airspace for your address before booking a flight. The report includes the drone photos and our recommendations. To ask whether a drone survey suits your roof, phone 07833 053749 or use the contact form. We survey tall and steep roofs, chimney stacks and valleys and parapet gutters, and people most frequently book us about storm damage on steep or tall roofs and ridge pieces that have lifted.

Older buildings in small places like Quendon may be listed or in a conservation area. A look from above or with a thermal imager doesn’t touch the roof, so it is a gentle way to see the condition of an old roof, before anyone decides what work it needs. Changes that affect a listed building’s special interest need listed building consent, so check with the council first.

The report works through the roof section by section, from the coverings down to the gutters, each with a short note and a photo. You will see the good as well as the bad.

Quendon questions

Is my home in Quendon listed or in a conservation area?

Your council is the best source, with Historic England’s list for listed buildings. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material.

Will you come out to Quendon?

Yes, smaller places are covered as well as towns. Our area covers London and South East England. Let us know about access, parking and anything unusual about getting there when booking.

Does the weather affect a drone survey?

Bad weather means no flight. Wind and heavy rain are the two things that ground a small drone, so a new date is agreed with you.

Will you walk on the roof?

Only if it’s safe. We inspect what can be seen safely: from ground level, from windows and vantage points, from the roof space, from the roof itself where safe and by drone where it applies. The report says if anything couldn’t be seen.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. Visible signs such as deflection or sagging are recorded, but we do not provide calculations or an engineer’s opinion. If one is needed, the report says so.

Which days do you carry out surveys?

Visits run seven days a week in the daytime. Let us know your preferred days when you book.

How soon will I get the report?

Each package has its own report time. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. Mention any deadline when booking.

Can I check my roof myself?

You can learn a lot from ground level. Binoculars help you spot slipped slates or tiles, gaps along the ridge and a leaning stack. Please don’t climb up for a closer look.

It’s useful to keep a record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us when booking.

What a drone roof survey does not cover

In fairness, there are limits to any roof survey:

  • Flights in high wind or heavy rain
  • Whether the roof structure meets design loads
  • Anything inside the loft or under the coverings

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or send us an email and we’ll tell you. What our survey covers.

What we check

  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Valleys and parapet gutters
  • Chimney stacks
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Tall and steep roofs

The survey, step by step

Every roof is different, but as a rough guide the survey takes roughly 1–2 hours on an ordinary house; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. You’re welcome to ask questions while we are there. Somewhere as small as Quendon, access is frequently the only tricky part. Let us know about outbuildings, past repairs and any leaks you’ve noticed. Visits can be on weekdays, Saturdays or Sundays.

  1. We start by checking the airspace and any restrictions at your address.
  2. Where a flight restriction zone or restricted area applies, we seek permission first.
  3. On the day, we check the weather and the site before flying.
  4. The sub-250g drone takes close-up photos of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
  5. We email a written report with the photos and our recommendations.

Preparing for the visit

  • Make a note of anything you’d like us to look at
  • Note where any stains or damp appear
  • For flats, check roof access has been agreed

Arrange a survey

Booking is simple: just ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and give us some details about the property and we’ll suggest the right survey. We confirm the price before anything is booked.

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Quendon

Large roofs take a long time to see on foot. The drone covers the surface area by area, showing patterns of wear that are hard to spot up close. That gives a clearer picture of the roof as a whole.

A survey can pick up problems such as:

  • Standing water on a flat roof
  • Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
  • Damage after a storm that can’t be seen from below
  • Ridge pieces that have lifted

If you own one of the older houses in the streets near Church of Quendon, older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.

Before you book anyone

  • What exactly goes into their report
  • Whether the loft is part of the inspection
  • Are they insured for the work?
  • When you’ll get the report

Different roofs, different checks

Steep slate and tile slopes

Steep slopes are hard to inspect safely on foot. From the air, every course of slates or tiles can be seen, showing slipped, cracked and missing pieces.

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Felt frequently lasts around 15 to 20 years, EPDM rubber around 30 to 50 and GRP up to about 30. We record the signs of age we can see.
