Drone Roof Survey in Rodmersham
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach in Rodmersham. More than 5,000 surveys completed across London and South East England.
- Hidden gutters full of leaves
- Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
- Vegetation in valleys and gutters
What we do, step by step
Where it is relevant and can be reached safely, the roof space is checked as well as the outside. In the loft, the signs we look for are staining, damp, daylight and sagging. All in, the survey normally takes an hour or two at most homes, and more on a big or complicated roof. In a small place like Rodmersham, access is usually the main thing to plan. Mention any outbuildings, barns or garages you want included, and anything about the roof you already know. Weekday and weekend visits are available.
- First, we check whether a drone is the right tool.
- A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
- Aerial photos are taken of your roof only, not the neighbours’.
- Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
- Everything is written up, with the aerial photos and our advice.
Before we arrive
- If the roof is shared, arrange access with whoever manages the building
- Leave a clear route to the loft
- Keep pets inside or away from the areas we’re looking at

Drone roof survey in Rodmersham: what you get
From the air, the outer surfaces are clear, but it can’t see inside. Where there is safe access, we look in the roof space too, since that is where leaks and condensation frequently show first. Inside and out together tell you far more. The report sets out what the drone showed and what we found inside. If there’s no safe loft access, the report says so. If you’ve noticed coverings that have slipped high up on the roof and storm damage on steep or tall roofs, we can find out what’s behind it, on chimney stacks, fragile roofs and flat roofs on upper floors alike.
In a village or hamlet like Rodmersham, roofs can be steep, old and hard to see from the lane. Close-up drone photos and thermal images help show what cannot be reached safely. Both the forecast and the airspace are checked first, and the journey is planned beforehand. Older roofs with steep slopes and tall chimneys are where the extra view helps most.
After the visit, you get a photo-illustrated written report, sent by email. It sets out the condition of the roof, any defects and our written recommendations.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Rodmersham
How do I find out if my home in Rodmersham is listed?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
Can you fly a drone over a roof in Rodmersham?
That depends on where the roof is and on the weather. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons. Strong wind or heavy rain also stops a small drone flying.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. Our survey looks at the roof, not the whole building. For the rest of the building, a RICS home survey is a separate job.
What’s the best way to book?
Just ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email. We’ll ask a few questions, confirm the price and agree a date.
Do I need to be at home?
Someone needs to let us in if we are looking inside or in the loft. We’ll talk about access as you book.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and testing aren’t part of what we do. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, like cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings and suggest a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before any work.
Does the weather affect the survey?
A survey can typically go ahead in light rain, and it can even help show where water is getting in. Strong wind or a downpour can stop drone flights and make roof access unsafe, so if conditions are not right we will arrange another day with you.
Honest limits
In fairness, a roof survey has limits:
- Whether the roof structure meets design loads
- A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
- Close-up photos of next door’s property
Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll tell you before booking. What a survey covers and does not.
Roof types and parts we check
- Fragile roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors
- Large and complex roofs
- Tall and steep roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Chimney stacks
DIY checks: what’s safe
If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Take a torch and only step on boards or joists, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.
Keep a simple record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Share it with us when you book, as it helps us focus the survey.
Tips from our surveys
Most of what helps is simple and safe from ground level. A few suggestions:
- Allow time for permission if you’re in a flight restriction zone
- Keep a clear space in the garden or drive for take-off
- Let neighbours know about the flight if your roof is shared
- Keep pets indoors during the flight
Premium also includes a 12-month follow-up. It shows whether anything has moved or worn since the first visit.
Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, so small faults are dealt with early.
What affects the price in Rodmersham
Prices always include VAT. What changes the price is:
- The roof’s overall size
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- The package you choose: Basic, Standard or Premium
- House, block, shop or office
What a survey costs comes down to the roof itself: how big it is, how high it is, the number of separate roofs and how it can be reached and seen safely. Drone roof survey starts from £400, including VAT.
Getting in touch
Getting the details right at the start saves time. Please include:
- Your timetable, like an exchange date
- Where the property is, with the postcode
- Anything about access we should know
- What kind of property and roof it is
Getting a price is simple: just ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and give us some details about the property and we’ll suggest the right survey. The price is agreed up front.
How the survey changes by roof type
Flat roofs on tall buildings
Outlets, edges and roof plant are common problem areas. We photograph them closely, as far as the flight allows.
Chimney stacks
From the air, a lean or a loose pot is easy to see. Each defect is photographed for the report.
Drone roof surveys in Rodmersham: local notes
Rodmersham is within about 3 miles of the coast, and wind near the sea can be strong. A small drone can’t fly safely in strong wind or a downpour, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Many older homes in Kent have handmade clay tiles, including Kent peg tiles held by pegs through two holes, and tile-hanging on their upper walls. You’ll also find oast houses and timber-framed Wealden hall houses among the county’s older buildings. Where a roof is steep, tall or hard to see from ground level, drone photos and thermal images add detail.
For site and facilities teams at buildings like Rodmersham School, thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof. If you live in an older home near Church of St Nicholas, steep roofs, tall chimneys and hidden valleys can be hard to see from ground level, and that’s where a view from above or with a thermal imager helps.
