Drone roof survey in Seer Green: what you get

Before any flight, we check the airspace. Near protected airports such as Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted and Luton, flight restriction zones mean permission is needed first. Central London has restricted areas of its own, which need NATS permission. If permission is not given, we inspect by other means and tell you. Prison sites also have drone restriction zones. If you’ve noticed cracked slates and tiles out of sight from below and cracked mortar along the ridge, we can find out what’s behind it.

In a small place like Seer Green, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. The visit is planned around the forecast, along with the journey and access. If the day turns windy or wet, the visit can be moved.

The Standard Survey adds moisture detection, a structural check and a follow-up consultation. The Premium Survey adds thermal imaging, drone inspection where applicable, structural analysis and an in-person consultation.

What a drone roof survey looks like in Seer Green

Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Before planning roof work on an older home, find out whether it’s listed or in a conservation area. Listed building consent covers changes to a listed building’s special interest, and an Article 4 direction can bring extra controls in a conservation area.

For site and facilities teams at buildings such as Seer Green Church of England School, a view from above covers a wide roof far faster than walking it.

Seer Green is about 2 miles east of Beaconsfield, in Buckinghamshire. Roofs in Seer Green get the same thorough look as anywhere else in Buckinghamshire. Seer Green is one of the places in Buckinghamshire we cover. There is also a page for Reading.

Why act early in Seer Green

A drone survey disturbs nothing on the roof. Fragile slates and tiles stay as they are, so the survey doesn’t create new problems. Older cottages and farmhouses around Seer Green can have roof timbers that have been there a very long time, where water from a failed roof can cause rot if it’s left.

Thermal imaging and drone inspection (where applicable) come with the Premium Survey, which starts from £400, inc. VAT. We will tell you which package suits the questions you have.

Why us?

  • An independent look at the roof
  • PI and public liability insurance
  • More than 20 years surveying roofs
  • Drone and thermal imaging surveys available

Landlords, agents and block managers in Seer Green

Where a roof is shared: access has to be agreed with whoever owns or manages the building. Let us know about it as you book and we will plan the visit with that in mind.

An agent can book and manage the survey for a landlord, and the report can go to both. Access is agreed with the tenant beforehand.

What a drone roof survey does not cover

A survey is a careful look at the roof, but it cannot do everything. The main limits are:

  • What’s under the slates, tiles or felt
  • Flying in a flight restriction zone without the airport’s permission
  • A structural engineer’s report

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can phone 07833 053749 or email us and we’ll tell you. What our survey covers.

What we look at

  • Fragile roofs
  • Flat roofs on upper floors
  • Chimney stacks
  • Tall and steep roofs
  • Large and complex roofs
  • Valleys and parapet gutters

Questions from Seer Green

Will you come out to Seer Green?

Yes. Seer Green is within the area we cover, which takes in towns, villages and rural addresses. We survey roofs across London and South East England. Just mention lanes, gates or anything else about the route when booking.

How do I find out if my home in Seer Green is listed?

The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. Either can affect what roof work is allowed, so it is worth checking before planning any.

What if it’s windy or raining on the day?

We do not fly in strong wind or a downpour. Whether we can fly depends on the conditions on the day. If it’s unsuitable, we will agree another date or inspect by other means.

Will you photograph what you find?

Yes. The report includes photos of what we found, so you can see exactly what each finding refers to.

Is it a structural engineer’s report?

No. We point out what can be seen, like sagging or deflection, but we do not carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. If we think you need an engineer, the report says so.

How soon will I get the report?

Report times are set by the package. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. Mention any deadline as you book.

What insurance do you have?

Our surveys are covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance. If you need details for a managing agent or a building owner, just ask.

What we do, step by step

The visit usually starts outside and finishes in the loft: outside views come first, then the roof space if there is safe access. All told, expect about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. For a village or hamlet like Seer Green, the journey is planned ahead of time: let us know about lanes, gates and parking. On the day, we inspect what can safely be seen, inside and out.

  1. We confirm whether a drone suits your roof.
  2. A date is fixed, with a fallback in case the weather turns.
  3. We fly over the roof, keeping the camera on the property we’re surveying.
  4. Where there is safe access, we check the loft as well.
  5. The report sets out what we found, with photos and recommendations.

How to prepare

  • Leave a clear route to the loft
  • Unlock side gates and any roof access doors
  • Check pets are kept safely away

Signs you need a drone roof survey in Seer Green

From the pavement, most of a tall roof is out of sight. Rear slopes, valleys and the tops of chimneys are hidden. Faults there can go unnoticed for years.

Typical things we are asked to look at include:

  • Worn lead at chimneys and walls
  • Ponding and splits on a high flat roof
  • Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
  • Hidden gutters full of leaves

Take an older house close to Church of Holy Trinity: older roofs can be steep and hard to see from the street, which is where photos from the air and thermal images help.

Questions to ask before you book

  • What experience they bring
  • What they will not be able to tell you
  • Whether VAT is in the quoted price
  • What the report includes, and whether it has photographs

What to expect from a roof survey

How the survey changes by roof type

Flat roofs on tall buildings

Flat roof coverings wear out at different rates. We record the signs of age we can see.

Chimney stacks

The drone shows the outside of the stack, and it is not a flue or gas safety check. If the flue needs a specialist, we’ll tell you.
