Drone roof survey in Skeete, Kent
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach in Skeete, carried out by an experienced roof surveyor. Every survey comes with a written report and photos.
- Flashings that have come away
- Coverings that have slipped high up on the roof
- Cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots
What we do, step by step
Expect us to ask a few questions before we start, about the roof’s history, any leaks and past repairs. Then the inspection itself takes about 1–2 hours for a house; commercial roofs usually need 3–4 hours. Rural addresses near Skeete can be hard to find from a postcode alone, so a few directions are welcome. The visit itself is the same as anywhere else.
- First, we check the address for flight restrictions.
- If permission is needed, we ask for it ahead of the visit.
- Before the flight, we check the conditions and the take-off spot.
- The sub-250g drone takes close-up photographs of the roof, kept in sight throughout.
- You receive a written report with photos and recommendations.
Before we arrive
- Move anything stored under the loft hatch
- Mention any parking restrictions on your street
- Unlock side gates and any roof access doors

Advice
About our drone roof survey in Skeete
We fly a sub-250g drone, and we hold a CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID. We keep it in sight throughout, and within the 120-metre limit that applies to all drones in the open category. Every flight is planned around the roof, the site and the people nearby. Airspace and weather are checked before every flight. We never fly where it isn’t safe. We survey large and complex roofs, fragile roofs and tall and steep roofs, and the problems we’re asked to look at most are plant growth and moss on the roof and flashings that have come away.
In a small place like Skeete, open ground can mean strong wind. A small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or heavy rain, and thermal imaging works best with little wind. We plan the journey, access and timing around the weather. A change in the forecast can mean moving the visit to another day.
We write the report in plain English, so you don’t need to be a roofer to follow it. Each point is backed by a photo where possible, and recommendations are put with the most urgent first where relevant.

Prices for drone roof surveys in Skeete
To price your survey, we check:
- The number of roofs, including extensions and garages
- Whether thermal imaging or a drone is needed
- Whether you choose the Basic, Standard or Premium Survey
- Roof area
A Basic Survey starts from £150, with VAT included. Standard is from £250 and Premium from £400. We confirm the price for your roof before you book.
Helping us price your survey
You don’t need to know any roofing terms. It’s enough to tell us:
- The property’s address and postcode
- The style of property, from a terrace to a block
- Access details, such as a loft hatch or a shared roof
- Why you want a survey: buying, a leak, a storm or new work
Once you know what you need, phone 07833 053749 or email us. From there it’s a case of choosing a package, agreeing the price and fixing a day, weekday or weekend.
Tips that help
You don’t need to be a roofer to help. What helps most:
- Keep dogs indoors during the visit
- Be ready to move the date if the weather turns
- Let us know what you want to see
- Clear the loft hatch so we can check inside too
With the Premium Survey, the report arrives the same day. Drone photos are included where we could fly.
Have high or hard-to-reach roofs surveyed every few years. Regular photos make changes easy to spot, so small faults are dealt with early.
Drone roof surveys in Skeete: local notes
Skeete lies within about 4 miles of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. A small drone cannot fly safely in high wind or heavy rain, so the weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions.
Westenhanger Castle lies about 2.7 miles south-west, so building around Skeete goes back a long way. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself. Take a building like Stowting Church of England Primary School: thermal images can show where wet insulation sits under a big flat roof.

Why act early in Skeete
On a tall building, problems are frequently found only when water comes in. By that stage the damage has spread inside. Looking from above picks up the early signs. For an older or listed building in a place like Skeete, repairs may need matching materials and consent, so leaving a defect until it is urgent leaves less time to plan.
One thing that affects the price is the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, with VAT included. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Skeete
Is my home in Skeete listed or in a conservation area?
Historic England’s list shows listed buildings, and the local council can tell you about conservation areas. If a home is listed, changes that affect its special interest need listed building consent, and in a conservation area re-roofing in different materials may need permission.
Is drone flying allowed in Skeete?
It depends on the exact address and the weather on the day. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions. Strong wind or a downpour also stops a small drone flying.
Does someone need to be in?
Someone needs to let us in if we’re looking inside or in the loft. Access is agreed with you when you book.
How much is a survey?
Prices start from £400, including VAT. We confirm the price for your survey before you book, and it depends on the roof’s size, access and the package you choose. For a price, call 07833 053749 or use the contact form.
Do you test for asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and sampling aren’t something we do. Where a material might contain it, such as old cement sheets on a building from before 2000, the report flags it, with a recommendation to have a specialist asbestos surveyor check before it is disturbed.
Is this a RICS survey?
No. We check the roof, not the whole building, so it is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey. Many buyers have both.
Will you go up on the roof?
Not unless it’s safe. Safe viewpoints, the roof space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.
How the survey changes by roof type
Steep slate and tile slopes
Old slates and clay tiles can crack underfoot. The drone sees them without touching them, so the survey doesn’t add damage.
Valleys and parapet gutters
Blocked outlets in hidden gutters cause many leaks. We check outlets and photograph any build-up.
