Telscombe Drone Roof Survey
Close-up drone photographs of roofs that are hard to reach across Telscombe, using drones and thermal imaging where it applies. Call or email for a price.
- Slipped or missing slates on a high roof
- Wind damage high on the roof
- Worn lead at chimneys and walls
How a drone roof survey works in Telscombe
Drones need reasonable weather. Strong wind or heavy rain rules out a flight, because the drone has to stay safely under control. If the day turns out unsuitable, we’ll talk about another date. We check the forecast ahead of the visit and again on site. Calm, dry conditions give the sharpest close-up photos. A short delay is better than a rushed flight. If you’ve noticed vegetation in valleys and gutters and cracked flaunching or loose chimney pots, we can find out what’s behind it, whatever the roof.
Around Telscombe, older homes can have thin loft insulation and later additions with roofs of their own. Thermal patterns and close-up photos together give a fuller picture of the roof. Findings are checked with moisture readings where needed. Results depend on the weather, so the visit is planned around the forecast.
The report works through the roof section by section, from the main slopes down to the gutters and outlets, with a note and a photo for each point. It records what’s sound as well as what isn’t.

What we cannot see
Our survey is not a RICS Level 2 or Level 3 survey, a structural engineer’s report or an asbestos survey. Other limits to bear in mind:
- Roofs and gardens beyond the one we are surveying
- The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)
- A flight on a day when the weather is not safe
If you’re not sure which survey you need, ring 07833 053749 or drop us an email and we’ll give you a straight answer before you book. What our survey covers.
What we check
- Chimney stacks
- Fragile roofs
- Large and complex roofs
- Valleys and parapet gutters
- Tall and steep roofs
- Flat roofs on upper floors

Leave it or get it looked at?
Leaving a slipped slate or a blocked valley can turn a small fault into a leak. Finding them now means less to put right, whatever height the roof is. Tradespeople may need to travel further to a smaller place like Telscombe, so it helps to plan roof work rather than call someone out in a hurry. Knowing early gives you time to get the right people in.
Price depends partly on the package: from £150 for Basic, £250 for Standard and £400 for Premium, including VAT. The roof’s size, height and access matter as well.
Why book with us
- 5,000+ roofs surveyed
- Covered by professional indemnity and public liability insurance
- Photos and a written report every time
- Two decades and more of roof surveys
What we do, step by step
There is not much for you to do on the day. Point out anything you’ve noticed, like stains, drips or loose pieces, and we will get on with the inspection. A typical survey takes between one and two hours at a house, including the airspace and weather checks before take-off. Homes around Telscombe often have gardens on more than one side, which gives us room to step back and see the roof. Mention any side of the property we can’t get to. Inside, the loft is looked at where it can be reached safely.
- You give us the address and let us know about the roof.
- Airspace restrictions are checked and permission sought where needed.
- Before take-off, the wind, the weather and the launch spot are checked.
- Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
- The findings, photos and recommendations reach you by email.
Before we arrive
- Keep pets in another room
- Tell us about parking before the day
- Let us know about any leaks, stains or damp patches you know of

Questions from Telscombe
Will you come out to Telscombe?
Yes, we do. We work right across London and South East England, and smaller places are part of that. The journey is planned ahead, so it’s useful to know about access.
How do I find out if my home in Telscombe is listed?
The council and Historic England’s list are the places to check. It is worth checking before planning roof work, as both can affect what’s allowed.
How fast do I get the report?
Report times are set by the package. Basic is within 48 hours, Standard is 24–48 hours and Premium is the same day. Mention any deadline when booking.
How do I arrange a drone roof survey in Telscombe?
Just call 07833 053749 or email us. After a few questions, we confirm the price and fix a day, weekday or weekend.
Do you hold CAA registration for the drone?
Yes, we are. The CAA has issued us a Flyer ID and an Operator ID, and we fly a drone that weighs under 250g, kept within sight on every flight.
Can you tell me if my roof has asbestos?
No. Asbestos surveys and testing are not part of what we do. We flag materials that could contain asbestos, such as cement sheets or soffits on pre-2000 buildings, and recommend a specialist asbestos surveyor checks them before they’re disturbed.
Does the report include photographs?
Yes, plenty. Each finding is shown in a picture where possible, so you can see what we mean.
Airspace, weather and Telscombe roofs
Telscombe lies within about 1 mile of the sea, where wind off the sea can be strong. The weather on the day decides whether a flight goes ahead, as a small drone cannot fly safely in strong wind or a downpour. Before any flight, we check the Drone Safety Map for airspace restrictions, including zones around airports and prisons.
Take a building like Telscombe Cliffs Community Primary School: big roofs are where close-up aerial shots and thermal images show the most at once. For an older house near a landmark like The Parish Church of St Lawrence, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof frequently shows up clearly on a thermal image. Monk's House, about 2.7 miles north-east, is one of the historic houses in the wider area around Telscombe. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from the ground, and a survey by drone or thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself.
Telscombe is about 6 miles east of Brighton, in East Sussex. We visit Telscombe as part of our work across East Sussex, for houses, flats and commercial buildings. Our East Sussex coverage includes Telscombe. For surveys nearby, see our Brighton page.

Larger places within reach include Eastbourne (13 miles east), Seaford (6 miles east), Lewes (5 miles north), Hailsham (12 miles east), Uckfield (12 miles north-east) and Newhaven (3 miles east).

How the survey changes by roof type
Valleys and parapet gutters
When a parapet outlet blocks, water can come inside. We check outlets and photograph any build-up.
Steep slate and tile slopes
On slate roofs, slipped slates often point to corroded nails. Close-up photos show how widespread it is.
Can I check my roof myself?
It helps to keep a record: dates of leaks, photos from ground level and any work done on the roof. Send it with your enquiry, as it helps us focus the survey.
What you can’t do safely is get up close. Roofs are fragile and slippery, and falls from height are serious. That part is for a survey, using safe viewpoints and a drone where it applies.
For landlords and managing agents
Surveys can also be booked by buyers’ agents acting for a client. Reports are emailed, so they’re easy to pass on.
A roof problem in a let property affects your tenants as well as the building. A survey shows what needs attention, so you can plan the work with less disruption.
