Drone roof surveys for homes and businesses in Wallington

Drones need reasonable weather. We don’t fly in strong wind or heavy rain, because the drone has to stay safely under control. If the weather turns, we’ll agree another day or inspect what we can by other means. The forecast is checked ahead of the visit and again on the day. Calm, dry conditions give the sharpest close-up photos. Waiting for a better day is better than a rushed flight. Common reasons to book are blistered or cracked flat roof coverings and hidden gutters full of leaves, across chimney stacks, tall and steep roofs and large and complex roofs.

In London’s terraces and conversions, roofs are packed close together, which makes care around neighbours part of the job. Images are taken to show the roof we are surveying, with care for neighbours’ privacy. Tell us about the building and access as you book. Steep slopes, tall chimneys and rear additions are where the extra view helps most.

Report times depend on the survey you book: the Basic Survey within 48 hours, the Standard Survey in 24 to 48 hours and the Premium Survey on the same day.

Your questions about drone roof surveys in Wallington

Does a conservation area affect roof work in Wallington?

We cannot confirm that for you, but Historic England’s list and your council can. Both listing and conservation areas can limit changes of roofing material, and councils can also use Article 4 directions.

Is parking a problem for a survey in Wallington?

It rarely stops a survey, but it is worth planning. Let us know what parking is available nearby, and the visit is planned around it.

Does the report include photos?

Yes. The report includes photographs of what we found, so you can see each point for yourself.

Will you walk on the roof?

Not unless it is safe. Safe viewpoints, the loft space and a drone where it applies cover most of what’s needed, and anything out of sight is recorded in the report.

Do I have to be there for the survey?

Not necessarily. An outside-only look can be arranged beforehand, but the loft and any rooms with damp need someone to let us in.

Are you structural engineers?

No. We point out what can be seen, such as sagging or deflection, but we don’t carry out calculations or give an engineer’s opinion. Where an engineer is needed, we say so in the report.

What if it’s windy or raining on the day?

We don’t fly in strong wind or heavy rain. The weather on the day decides whether the drone goes up. If we cannot fly, we will arrange another day.

DIY checks: what’s safe

Keep a simple record: when leaks happen, ground-level photos and any past roof work. Share it with us as you book and it will help the survey.

If you have a loft with safe access, take a look inside. Use a torch and stay on the joists or boards, and look for staining, damp timber or daylight coming through.

Leave it or get it looked at?

It’s hard to plan maintenance for a roof nobody has looked at. Our report shows the condition of each area. You can tackle the urgent items first. In Wallington, as across London, an overflowing gutter soaks the wall below, which can lead to damp inside. A blocked outlet ignored for a winter or two can mean damp walls inside.

The cost of a survey depends on the roof: its size, its height, how many sections it has and how safely it can be seen. Our price is from £400, including VAT.

Different roofs, different checks

Ridges and hips

Some ridges are fixed with mortar, others with dry-fix systems. Their condition is noted in the report.

Chimney stacks

The drone shows the outside of the stack, and it isn’t a flue or gas safety check. We will say if a specialist is needed.

Drone roof surveys in Wallington: local notes

London’s airspace includes flight restriction zones around Heathrow, London City Airport and London Heliport, and restricted areas over Hyde Park, the City of London and the Isle of Dogs. Each address is checked against all of them before the drone goes up. In outer London, interwar semis with hipped, tiled roofs sit alongside older slate-roofed terraces. On a semi of that age, the small roofs over the bays, the hip tiles and any later dormer each need their own look. A drone or thermal camera adds most on the steep, tall and hidden parts of roofs like these.

If you look after a shop, office or commercial unit, for instance near Centrale Croydon, thermal images can show trapped moisture across a wide commercial roof. If your house is among the older ones in the streets near Church of the Holy Trinity, thin or patchy insulation under an old roof often shows up clearly on a thermal image. Historic houses such as Nonsuch Mansion, about 3.4 miles west, show how far back building around Wallington goes. Older roofs nearby can be steep and hard to see from ground level, and a survey from the air or with a thermal camera doesn’t touch the roof itself.

Wallington is about 2 miles west of Croydon, in Greater London. Whether the building in Wallington is a house, a flat or a commercial unit, we can survey the roof on a weekday or at the weekend. Prices for drone roof surveys in Wallington

All our prices include VAT. The things that change the price are:

  • Basic, Standard or Premium
  • Any need for thermal images or a drone flight
  • The shape of the roof and its details
  • How tall the building is and how easy the roof is to see

For a price for your roof in Wallington, ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form with the address and a few details. The price is agreed before a date is set.

Helping us price your survey

If you can, have these to hand when you get in touch:

  • The kind of building and roof involved
  • Any stains, drips or damp patches you’ve seen indoors
  • The reason for the survey, such as buying, a leak or storm damage
  • How the loft is reached, if there is one

Getting a price is simple: just call 07833 053749 or send us an email, let us know about the property and we’ll explain which survey suits. The price is agreed up front.

The survey, step by step

When we arrive, we start by asking what you’ve noticed and what you need to know. We then inspect everything that can be seen safely. The survey typically takes about 1–2 hours for most homes, with the pre-flight checks included, and longer for big commercial roofs. In a London area like Wallington, the main things to sort out are parking and access: tell us about permits, visitor bays or off-street space, which floor the property is on and how to get into the loft. On the day, the roof is looked at from ground level, from windows, from inside the roof space and from the roof where it is safe.

  1. You give us the address and tell us about the roof.
  2. Any flight restriction at the address is checked, with permission requested if required.
  3. On the day, we check the wind, weather and site before flying.
  4. Close-up photos are taken of each slope, chimney, valley and gutter, with the drone always in view.
  5. We email the report with close-up photos and recommendations.

Getting ready for the survey

  • Have keys ready for side gates, garages or roof access doors
  • Have any questions written down, so nothing gets missed
  • Have any paperwork from past roof work to hand

Arrange a survey

If you have photos of the roof, send them over. Take them safely from the ground or a window, and please don’t climb up for a closer look. To send them or to book, ring 07833 053749 or send us an email.

Advice

What this survey can’t tell you

We only report what can safely be seen on the day, so some things are outside what a survey can do:

  • A structural engineer’s report
  • Close-up photos of next door’s property
  • The underside of the roof (that needs an inside check)

Not sure which survey suits your roof? You can ring 07833 053749 or use the contact form and we will tell you. What our survey covers.
